A Letter To The Girl Who's Not

Girl, I know exactly how you feel. We are surrounded in a world of people constantly changing their Facebook status.

So many of my friends are getting into relationships. So many of my friends are getting engaged. So many of my friends are getting married. So many of my friends are even having babies. And I'm not. And I'm perfectly okay with that. I am content with right where I am.

I am content in this season of my life and you should be too.

Now, I'm not bashing people who have a man, are planning the wedding of their dreams on Pinterest, or those cute little baby bumps counting down the days to meet their sweet little bundles of joy. I'm just trying to encourage those like myself who are not.

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is like to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Philippians 4: 11-13

You are right where you are supposed to be in this very moment. No matter what you think you are right where you are supposed to be at this very moment-- in the supermarket, at work, out with friends, in bed, or on the toilet. You are in the right chapter of your life too. God has called you to be right where you are because he has a plan for you right now.

This season of singleness, where your life feels like it's at a standstill is so very important. You only have to worry about yourself right now. You don't have to worry about spending enough time with a boy. You don't have to check in with anyone or "ask for permission.” You don't have to be home by 9 to tuck the kiddos into bed-- so take advantage of this stage in your life.

Go on fun adventures.
Go on crazy road trips.
Eat too much late night Taco Bell.
Stay up all night with your best gal pals and talk the night away.

Because one day, when the timing is right, you will be called to be in a relationship, or be married, or be with your kids and you won't be able to do any of that. You will look back and wish you were the girl that was doing and not the girl that was not. Who cares about that Facebook status that won't matter unless it's a year from now and it shows up on your Timehop. Live in the moment and make memories that are going to be referenced on the daily about how much fun it was.
Be content where you are called to be and take advantage of it. Don't worry God's got you’re covered.

We are all born to do something great.
