A Letter To My Little Sister's Future Husband
Sierra Abbott

One of the many great things about being a big sister is watching your little sister grow up. My little sister is one of the few people that I have watched grow up from birth to the present. I am like millions of other girls around the world that has had my wedding planned out since I was just a little girl. My dream evolves as I get older, and as I grow up my idea of the perfect husband changes. My job as a big sister is to not just dream of my perfect wedding and husband, but it is my job to dream about my little sister’s future wedding and husband.

My little sister may only be twelve at this moment, but I have big dreams for her. It’s hard to imagine her all grown up and married, but I know that one-day in the far (very far please) future that she will find the perfect guy and get married. That guy better be ready to prove his worth to the big sister that will fight any guy that breaks her heart.

Treat her like a princess.

I may be the princess of my family, but you better treat my little sister the way she deserves to be treated. She will be the princess of your family. She is worth so much to so many people. She is a daughter, a granddaughter, a cousin, a friend and most importantly: a little sister. That means that you better treat her right because she has a bunch of people that love her more than you even know.

You are basically married to our family too.

We are pretty much a package deal, so when you marry my sister, you marry the whole family. You have to be respectful of our entire family. Family is extremely important in this family, so you have to make sure that not only is your family important to you, but our family has to be important to you.

Always support her dreams.

This girl dreams big. You have to make sure that you support every single dream and never ever tear her down. Her dreams may be crazy or they may seem impossible. No matter what you have to support every dream that pops into her head and help her to make that dream come true.

Come to me when you need advice.

I am her big sister so I know her way better than you do. Come to me when you need ideas for what presents to get her, come to me when she confuses you, come to me when you need advice. I am here for you. I want the best for my little sister, so if I can help you in any way I promise that I will.

If you hurt her, I will hurt you.

You married my little sister. She is my baby sister, which means I am the only one that is allowed to be mean to her. If you hurt her, you better hide because this big sister will come after you.

Love her unconditionally.

If you marry my sister that means that you are committed to love her unconditionally and she will do the same for you. She deserves someone that will love her when she is all dolled up, when she is wearing sweats, when she has success, when she messes up and everything in between. Never let her doubt how much you love her.

I am so glad she has you.

My sister is strong and independent and I know that she does not need a man to complete her, but I am so happy she has you. My little sister deserves her prince charming and I am so glad that she finally met you. If you make her happy, then I am happy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
