A Letter To High School Seniors

As senior year is approaching, I want to give High School Seniors some advice.

A Letter To High School Seniors
Molly Gray

Dear High School Seniors,

Whether you like it or not, school is about to start. The good news is that you made it!! It is your last year of high school. I am sure that the excitement is overflowing right now. I know because I was you just one year ago. That being said, I want to offer some advice to all of you.

1. Don’t be that student that takes all super hard classes and/or gets involved in all the clubs.

Senioritis is a really thing, and it doesn’t just mean that you are ready to graduate and get out of your town. It also means that you do not, I repeat, do not want to do anything. So, the mixture of stress from hard classes and having so many activities to do plus not wanting to do it all does not mix very well. Now don’t get me wrong, you should get in involved in clubs and some hard classes are going to be a thing, but I wouldn’t put too much on my plate. If you want to, go for it, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

2. Spend as much time as you can with your family and friends.

Yes, I know some people will stay around town and with their family. However, most of you will be leaving to go different places around the state or even country. This means that seeing your family and friends after you leave is going to come to a minimum. So, do what you can to spend the time with the people you care about before you leave.

3. Don’t miss out on the fun activities your school has planned for you.

I know at my school we have senior ride in on the first day of school plus on Freshman Friday, we get to roll the school at homecoming, and so much more. I went to most everything they had even the pretty boring senior picnic. I went because you will never have the opportunity to do them again. These memories are the ones that will last you a lifetime. Plus, they are usually fun. (P.S. Go on as many field trips as you can. I know you don’t get many chances to go on any, so take any that you can.)

4. Don’t get discouraged if any part of your college plans don’t go the way you want them to.

This one is close to my heart because I had trouble finding my roommates at first which I thought would be super easy. Some of the other things that may not go as planned are which college you actually get into or go to, what you will major in, or where you will live. Things change because God has a plan for you which is better than anything that you can image, so trust Him because it will all work out.

5. Don’t neglect your relationship with God.

In my opinion, this year is the year that you need God the most. You have all these plans or at least decisions that you have to make which are stressful. But like I said above, God has a plan for you, and He wants to be a part of this exciting time in your life. It is easy to get too busy, but you can’t forget the One that made all of this possible in the first place.

6. Don’t wish this time away.

Trust me, this year will be gone before you know it. There are so many things that you need to do and experience before you leave to start the next chapter in your life which is a stressful time. You have so much going for you this year with fun, family, friends and memories. So, don’t wish it away too fast.

7. Have Fun!

I know that there are so many other things that I could say or tell y’all about senior year, but these are somethings that I was told or learned from this past year as a senior. I really hope this will help someone. I hope y’all have a great year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
