You knew me during the awkward days of middle school. You grew with me through those four crazy years of high school—countless classes, music events and extracurricular activities we have experienced together. Of course, there were many people going through these stages of life with us. However, you are the only one who is continuing to see me through the newest stage of my life: college.

College is a time for new experiences and new people. Getting away from home and the people we’ve been stuck with for the last 13 years is something we all look forward to, but having you by my side has made this new stage of my life even better.

We were always friendly growing up. We always helped each other with school work, attended some birthday parties for each other. As we got further into high school, we got closer. We bonded over our mutual passion for music—a passion so strong we both knew that it’s what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives. When we both decided to attend the same school, I was excited to know I would have a familiar face, but I never could have predicted how our friendship would evolve once we got here and just how important you would become to me.

I don’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done for me.

Thank you for helping me with schoolwork when I don’t know what I’m doing. Our Starbucks homework sessions are something I look forward to, even when we don’t get much work done.

Thank you for your craziness. Your constant positivity and endless energy lift me up and keep me going on the tough days.

Thank you for putting up with my attitude. I sass with love.

Thank you for getting me. I love being able to have a whole conversation with you with just a look.

Most importantly, thank you for being my piece of home away from home, for being my go to person and my best friend at school. Thank you for knowing me so well and for always being there, no matter how big or small the issue. I know now that you are a friend I will keep for life, and I can’t wait to keep experiencing it all along beside you.

I love you, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
