As my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary quickly approaches, there’s a few things I’ve probably never said that I definitely should.
First of all, thank you for being my personal chauffer for the past 19 years. I’ll never forget my (usually quiet) rides with Papa to dance or cheerleading, and going back and forth to NU with the both of you. Not to mention when we are in the car with Mom and we always get lost!
Secondly, thank you for helping to raise me and always keeping me late on Tuesdays and Thursdays when Mom had to work later, being up early on Saturdays, and keeping me occupied (until I got into my super lazy teenage years).
In addition to these big things, thank you for the little things like always having popsicles in the freezer and making me lasagna noodles with a little sauce for lunch every day of the summer, taking my car to get fixed, sending me cards at school and tolerating my overwhelming amounts of Barbie dolls I had in your basement.
Lastly, thank you for setting an amazing example for me on how to love. I can never remember a time when I would see the two of you kiss and think ‘Ew, gross.” I can only pray that I can one day say I have been married for 50 YEARS!
