Since when is being single some sort of impairment? All I have been seeing on twitter lately is tweet after tweet of "Relationship Goals" and "Single forever crying my heart out." What is so wrong with rocking your life solo? I know everyone on social media and in the world is trying to tell you you need to have a boyfriend to be happy, but you really don't.
Yes, having a relationship is fun and boys are great, but there is so much you can do and be happy when you're single. To date someone is exciting but so is going to a party all dressed up with your friends and dancing around your room until 3 am just because you can. Your friends are your people. Don't forget they are there to be your boyfriend; it's in their job description. In all honesty, they're probably better boyfriends than any boyfriend could ever be.
Did you know that when you're single you get to eat all of the food you order by yourself? For me, this is probably the biggest reason I love being single, but let me explain. You're at a restaurant with your friends or parents and you get a plate of fries, and every single one of those fries belongs to you. If that is not the most magical thing you've ever heard, I don't know what to tell you. That was mostly a joke, but it is still important to remember.
I am a twenty-something, I get relationships are something every single person around you seems to think needs to happen. Your friends will hang out and you'll all discuss why you don't have a boyfriend. The answer is simple. You're not ready. I don't mean that in a cruel way, but you're not ready. Things happen in our lives when we are prepared for them and I can honestly say right now I myself am not ready. Just enjoy your life. Don't be so stressed out about who you're going to find walking down the street or out at a party. Live in the moment and when it is meant to happen it will happen.
