My entire life I have been the "bigger" girl among all my friends and peers at school. I understand now that I am just built a lot differently than those girls who can fit into size two and four. It was just genetics. But seeing myself get out of control and being at my top weight EVER changed me. It changed my outlook on life.
It wasn't until summer started and all these girls in bikinis were popping up on my Twitter and Instagram that I saw what I looked like in comparison.
I was unhappy, unhealthy, overweight, and less and less confident with myself.
So, finally, I decided to take a stand and say NO MORE to being the bigger girl.
I finally started eating better, cut out all drinks but water, cut out sugar, and started working out. Now, it is not an easy journey -- especially for a girl who loves her Chick-fil-a! But that doesn't stop me from trying my absolute hardest. I have to bust my ass twice as hard as people who are able to eat whatever they want and stay thin.
If you are struggling with the same thing, here are some things I think to myself for some motivation and hopefully they will motivate you, too.
1) You will give into temptation sometimes and eat some queso every now and them and that is OK. As long as you don't let you temptations dictate your diet, something every once in a while is acceptable.
2) Since you aren't built the same as the girls who wear size two, you won't be that size, and that is also okay. As long as you are happy and healthy, that's all that matters.
3) You won't always have the motivation to workout. Having a rest day or two is alright, as long as you stick with it. Even if you don't feel like doing a full leg day and double cardio workout, go and bike a little and elliptical. It will make you feel so so much better than you would if you just sat in your room watching Gossip Girl for the third time.
Just because you stumble and fall on your weight loss journey doesn't mean its the end of the world. It took me years of restarting to get this new mindset. Just this year alone, I have restarted three times, but I didn't give up.
Keep pushing! It will be the best thing you will ever do.
