We’ve been friends for 14 years now. This is, without a doubt, the longest friendship of my life and I can’t imagine what it would be like to live my life without you. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we always manage to pull through. For that, and for you, I am so thankful.
We don’t see each other much now since I started college in the United States, which really, really sucks. It’s hard going from seeing someone almost every day of your life, to barely seeing them once a year. Despite this, whenever we get together, it’s like we’ve been with each other all along. The conversation picks right back up where we left off, everything falls back into place and it’s like old times again. Even when we’re miles apart, I know I can still count on you to be there for me when I need you. I know I can count on you to make me laugh and pick me up when I feel down. I know I can count on you to encourage me and to congratulate me when I accomplish my goals. Knowing that we still have this sort of connection comforts me, and it reassures me that what we have is true friendship.
I’ve watched you grow so much over the years and I am so incredibly proud of you! Finding out you joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. surprised me, but watching you become better and better as each day passed made me so happy. You’re doing great things and becoming even more phenomenal than you already are. I don’t think I can express enough how proud I am of you. Also, I love being able to brag about you. Go best friend, that’s my best friend! You’ve been a source of inspiration to me, and without you I don’t think I would’ve had the courage to come out of my shell and join a sorority. This is something I really must thank you for. Your encouragement helped me put myself in a position to better myself every day as a member of Sigma Kappa. Just seeing your success and your growth makes me want to continue to improve myself in every way possible.
We’re approaching the time where we close one chapter of our lives and open a new one. We’re graduating college soon. We’re becoming adults. Whatever happens, I hope that we remain friends. I want to be 80 sitting out on the front porch cracking jokes like always. I want us to maintain and continue to nurture the bond that we have. We may be in different sororities, but you are my sister for life. I promise that if you ever need anything, I will be there for you. I promise that when I get rich (just give me some time), I will fly you out and we’ll travel the world together and live life to the fullest. And even though we may have other friends (and I may get a little jealous sometimes), you hold a permanent spot in my heart as number one.
Love Always,
Your Best Friend
