(Knock Knock) "Housekeeping!" Does that sound familiar? Most people know about hotel housekeeping, but they really don't understand what it really means to be one. They tend to be blissfully unaware, as they enter their fresh & clean room, of how much work we do. Apart from school, I work as a housekeeper and I've got some peeves. Get ready because I'm going to let you in on the inter-workings of your cleaning staff.
1. We're not your personal "maids" that you can push around. Don't treat us like crap.
2. We don't steal anything from guests. The mere accusation of theft could very easily get you fired.
3. We all get that strange feeling that we'll be murdered in the hotel. It sounds irrational, but it's just the way it is.
4. We've seen some sh*t. There are toilets I've scrubbed that still give me nightmares.
5. If you have a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door, we won't go into your room. Heck, that's just one room we won't have to clean! #Blessed
6. We don't get to go till every room is cleaned. So depending on how busy it is, we may have a 12-hour shift or a 3-hour shift.
7. You know, you can tip us right? Just leave a couple of bucks as you check out and it'll make our day.
8. If you complain about us, saying "This isn't like the [More Expensive Hotel]!", then you can promptly step-off. You should have booked it if you couldn't then just be glad you have a spot to rest.
9. We've had some real creeps try some real sketchy actions, please don't be one of them.
10. Please, don't let your kids run up and down the hallways. It's rude to other guests and quite distracting to employees.
11. If you need anything, we'd be glad to help out. Shampoo, towels, soaps, pillows? We got you, fam.
12. Don't freak if you find a hair in between the sheets. Laundry machines aren't perfect and static makes it more difficult to get every hair. Your. Sheets. Are. Clean.
13. We have to clean the stench out too, so please don't smoke in your rooms!
14. Your furry pets bring joy and fear. Your dog is adorable, but Fur gets EVERYWHERE.
