It gets better, trust me.

A Letter To My Past Self
Danny Truong

Dear Past Self,

It gets better, don't worry about the future because I am here to reassure you that it does get better. Don't drown yourself in thoughts of what could have been, when it was in front of you the entire time. Things happen for a reason and sometimes you have to accept it to move on, there are bigger things to accomplish in life. There will be bumps, there will be hardships, there will be times where you will want to give up and cal it quits but I won't let you. What has giving up gotten us, nothing. Continue to work your ass off to accomplish what you want because it won't be handed to you. Life isn't easy, it will kick you in the stomach and make you ask for another because that's how life is sometimes. And when life wants to kick you have to endure it and never give up. You will accomplish great things.

When you feel alone I can tell you there are so many people around you that care, whether you know it or not you are never alone. Don't push them away, keep them close and open up with them. The feeling that you called alone was just you neglecting those around you, putting on that mask and deceiving yourself, telling yourself that fine being alone, your not. Your friends care about you and will never leave you feeling hurt. You will always have a pillar to lean on. They are like brothers to you, don't forgot that. Your brothers will always will be there for you when you need them, so never feel alone.

Apologize to your mom and dad, you treated them like they were your enemy when they weren't. They may be a hard asses but they does care about you. they may not show affection directly but they do all they can to provide for you and that's how they show they care. They makes sure there is always food in your stomach, that you have warm clothing, that you have a comfortable bed to sleep on, and all you did was curse at them under your breath. Swallow your pride and show them that you appreciate what they do. They won't be here forever to look after you, show them you love them. Tell them they are appreciated.

You don't have to worry about your love life either, you will find that special girl. It will take you a few tries though but don't be discouraged because when you do find her you will be happy, trust me. You two will go on cute dates at the Saturday Market, Art Museum, and cafe's. She will take you to your first concert, and you will show her the wonders of PokemonGo (you will find out what that is in the future). You will never find a girl like her, her love of Mac&Cheese is unparalleled, her smile and laughter lights up the room, and you will learn a lot about yourself through her. Most importantly though, she loves you for who you are. She sees past the insecurities and loves you for who you are. And you will love her the same way.

Never change for anyone but yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
