To My Favorite Band, Before You Exit

Being a fan doesn't mean being there from the start. It means you are willing to be there always.

Before You Exit
The world would be a lonely place without the band that puts a smile on your face.

To My Favorite Band:

You probably hear this from countless other girls (and guys) who call themselves your fans, but I'm going to say it anyway: You've impacted my life in an amazing way, and I cannot begin to thank you enough for that.

You might not be the first band I've ever loved, and you might not be the last, but one thing is for sure: No matter where we are 10 years down the road and onward, I'll be here.

Because of you, I met my best friend, who I cannot imagine my life without now. Thanks to you, fellow fans became invaluable friends. They're friends to go on road trips with and scream out every word of every song with. They're friends who will be there to pick me up when I'm down or rejoice with me in times of celebration. They're people who have my back and will lend me a shoulder to cry on or offer up an inside joke to laugh at when I least expect it. I know they're lifelong friends who will probably one day be attending my wedding. Because of you, they'll be there.

I know the words to every song, and many of the lyrics hold a special place in my heart. Your music has the power to help calm my anxiety, to make me cry, to make me jam out and look like a fool--totally worth it, by the way--and to bring back some amazing memories I'll forever hold close to me. They'll always be there.

I've walked through hell and back alongside you, and although we still mourn together because of it we all ultimately came out stronger on the other side. I've cried with you, I've laughed with you, I've sung my lungs out at your shows with you. And through it all, no matter what's happened to date or what comes our way in the future, I will be here.

So here's to you guys and your role in my life and those of many other people who love you, too. Thank you for being the kindhearted and humble people you are, solid in your faith, family and ways of life. Thanks for bringing such a diverse group of people together for the love of music. Thanks for being somewhat of an extended family to us. And thank you for not losing sight of who you are and what you're here to do. Always remember who you are and stay true to that person, and those beliefs.

Thank you for every kind word, every hug, every joke you've ever told that made me smile, and for every note and word sung that has struck a chord in our hearts. I can't wait to support you all for years to come as we navigate this crazy, wonderful, beautiful adventure called life. I'll be here, and I hope you will, too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
