Finals Week: The Worst Week Of A College Or High School Student's Life

Hey guys,

You are almost there! Just one more week and then you get to go home for a month! You can't sugarcoat what this week is — for most, this week is awful. Between writing papers, taking tests, and studying, you have to find time to eat, sleep, and hangout with your friends before you're separated for a month. Not to mention finding time to pack up your entire life to go home.

Finals week involves pulling an all-nighter to reverse the months of slacking that have killed their grades. Finals week involves a lot of stress and very little sleep, the college or high school student will be on edge the entire time, thus it is not a good time to screw with them by playing practical jokes or something you might find funny.

But here is what I have to say to everyone who might be struggling with this week...

You can do it!

You have made it through the past four months, you can make it through this week! Sure, you might have coffee running through your veins, run on two hours of sleep, or take the occasional nap at the library. But if you get the grades that you wanted, who cares!?!?

It might be hard to teach yourself an entire semester's worth of material in a couple days, but in the end, you'll be glad you did it so you can pass.

Be organized

Nothing is worse than realizing you have a huge final paper or presentation due at midnight that you forgot about the whole time. I've done this multiple times, and hated myself more and more each time I did it. So I created a list of all of my final assignments and their due dates, and all of my final exams or presentations and stuck it on my door so I couldn't forget. That was the best thing I have ever done for finals week.

Have confidence in yourself!

You absolutely cannot go into finals week thinking you're going to fail all of your finals. That's probably very over-dramatic and unrealistic for most. This week is the one that can basically make or break your entire semester, so why would you go into it thinking the past four months were a waste? If you have confidence in yourself then you'll be better off in the end!

Good luck!

Not that you need luck, I mean, you've been the most studious college kid over the past four months, right? Not missing one class and studying heavily all the time? Yeah, no. Nobody does that. So good luck on all of your finals this week! And remember, the end is almost here and a five-week hibernation is near!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
