Let's Get Together

It's time for us to end the political vitriol once and for all.

This week I saw the biggest slimmer of hope I have seen in ages. My favorite political commentator Van Jones made a digital mini-series called “TheMessyTruth”. It is Van Jones a known liberal going deep into Donald Trump territory to talk and see why people are so angry and to figure out how to avoid what could be the next Civil War. I have seen all three episodes and have found that there is hope for America. They are not these backwoods, uneducated, and hateful people that society has painted them to be. They are true Americans who just want to see their families be better.

I bring this up because recently Arkansas has been up in roar because members of the Lady Razorbacks basketball team decide to kneel during the national anthem. Laurie Rushing, Jason Rapert, and Asa Hutchinson have predictably reacted to what they think their constituents want to hear and what they believe. Many people in the state have taken their positions on it. I have read people’s comments online have laughed and cried at the hate spewed by people over the Internet. I have vilified them without even knowing them. I am sure through my comments and replies people have vilified me without knowing me.

But after watching those videos in the mini-series, I want to do something different. I want to be able to bring people together like Van Jones did. I don’t want to live in America where we talk past each other but don’t talk to each other. I refuse to let my country to be marred by obstructionism, by political and social vitriol, and by talking points of politicians. I just refuse to let it happen. For the sake of my country I want to fight for civility. Politicians are the ones who want us to be separated, they are the ones that want to keep us from coming together and I am not going to let it happen anymore.

What I want to do is bring people together and have conversation. You can be Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green Party, Independent, and no political preference whatsoever. I want us to talk about the issues. I want as many people as possible to get along and talk together to figure out the real issues in America. So you can find me on Facebook at Brian Gregory and message me if you are willing to come together and talk. I don’t just want to talk; I want to put it on video just like Van Jones did so we can show America and the world that these are the conversations that need to happen. I am serious about this so please message me on Facebook.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
