Let Go And Move On

You can't touch the past, so why would you let it touch you?

Elsa was right. Let it go. I know it sounds cheesy, but she was right, the past is in the past. You can't touch it, so why would you let it touch you? I found this quote from C.S. Lewis, and it really touched me. "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." These words happen to be some of the most empowering and inspiring words I have ever heard.

When you get in a slump, it can be so difficult to pick back up and climb yourself out of it. It happens to me all the time, especially at field hockey practice. It's something I need to work on, and I can only imagine that many of you may have the same problem as well. I go to hit my drive, and instead, I hit the grass and the ball goes absolutely no where. I know its a bit of an ingenuous example, but here's an example on a realer scale. You have straight C's in school. You're not where you want to be. It's the middle of the second marking period. You come to a conclusion with yourself. You're already in the hole you've dug for yourself, there's no way you can get out now. So, you keep doing what you're doing; mediocre projects and essays, hardly any effort, not really doing any homework, and zero studying habits.

But you are so much more than this. Is this really where you want to be? Absolutely not. It doesn't matter where you are in life. If you have somewhere you want to be, with hard work, effort, and drive especially, there's nothing holding you back from getting there besides yourself. You could be on a really bad path, on your way to no where. But what's to stop you from changing directions?

Your future is undecided. You have the power to decide it. It's all in your hands; who you want to be, what you want to do, where you want to be. No matter where you are, you can change yourself and your lifestyle. You are a great person, and you have a great heart. Maybe you just haven't found it yet. Everyone is good at heart. Some people go down the wrong path at some point in their lives, whether it be for ten minutes or two years. No matter how far down you are, there is nothing to stop you from turning around and ending this downward spiral.

You cant go back into the past and fix it. But you can start now, and change the outcome. You know those people in the movies? The ones that do something awful, and then they go back into the past and try to reverse what they did? Well, life isn't a movie, and you can't do that. But no matter what you do, at any time in your life, you can change where you are headed. All you need is a little motivation, and a little confidence.

This can be your year, if you let it be. You simply need to decide that you want it to be. Decide who you want to be, and the rest will follow. Take any and all great opportunities that come to you. Be kind. Have a soft heart and do for others, but make sure to do for yourself too. Don't be jealous or worry about others or what they're doing. Focus on yourself and your success. Why even insult people for your own person benefit? Why worry about what others are doing? You get absolutely nothing out of it. Work hard, remain focused, be kind, and stay driven. Surround yourself with people who make you feel loved and wanted. Life is short, make the most of it. Wake up every day confident and ready to tackle any challenge or obstacle that life places in your way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
