As I am sure we have all heard, Pokémon Go has taken over the lives of many, and that includes mine. And with it’s ability to take over lives, there are, of course, lessons to be learned along the way. So here are a few lessons I have learned, or I think everyone should know, while playing Pokémon Go.
1. The other players are friendly (Probably)
Overall, my experience with other players of Pokémon Go has been incredibly pleasant. I’ve had a few nice and friendly chats about the game, asking where they’ve found Pokémon, or exchanging a few words about the constantly dying servers. Even players from the different teams are usually pretty nice. Only once have I any less than friendly playing, and that was when a couple of people were sitting by a gym, making it impossible to take over because they would put their Pokémon in as soon as you beat it. And they did this repeatedly.
2. It’s a game and it’s not worth getting insanely mad over
Believe me, there have been a few times I have been so annoyed with this game, that I have wanted to throw my phone across the room because the app froze in the middle of catching a Pokémon, or it wouldn’t let me connect to the server. But I also know that it’s just a game, and there will always be more Pokémon to catch. I knew what I was getting into when I downloaded the app, and it isn’t worth driving myself insane.
3. Your legs have never looked this good
I enjoy exercise, and try to do it regularly. And it has never been easier to want to wander outside and go on long walks in parts of town you don’t usually visit. I’ve been to so many parks, and on so many long walks recently that my legs are looking great. And, personally, I think walking and biking definitely add something to the experience that you can’t get while driving. Plus, you aren’t putting yourself or anyone else in danger by trying to play the game and drive at the same time. Seriously, don’t do it. Your life is more important than an app.
4. Time of day and weather no longer impact your adventure
I’m not one for staying out super late, but the other day, when my brother and I found out there was a Lickitung down the road, we went out in the middle of the night to catch it, and got a bonus Rhyhorn while we were out. I’ve also found myself looking forward to a little bit of rain because that meant a better chance for water Pokémon. It just adds to the authentic Pokémon adventure.
