Within the past few months, there has been a controversy on some of the outfit choices of teen girls. Some say that leggings and a t-shirt, also Nike shorts and a t-shirt, should only be worn for work-out purposes. Some also say that one should look nice everyday, instead of wearing whatever you want on a daily basis. I see the relevance of these points; however, I have to say I disagree.

I am one who is known to wear leggings or nike shorts with a larger t-shirt. I have been wearing this type of outfit for I can't tell you how many years. I do this because it is how I am the most comfortable. When it comes to having a chill day, going to class or really any casual event I want to be as comfortable as possible as the occasion (or dress code) will allow.

When it is hot outside, I don't want to be wearing a fancy outfit. I will just end up sweating, which will make me even more uncomfortable. If it is cold, it's the same situation. I would much rather layer up leggings, sweatpants, shirts and a jacket. I don't want to worry about being cold just for the sake of an outfit to wear to class.

Being a college student, I spend the majority of my time and energy on school. I rush from one side of campus to the other with a ten minute time-frame between classes. With that in mind, I'd rather be in comfortable clothing to do this. I don't want to be wearing this fancy outfit to speed walk across the whole campus.

I'm not saying girls these days should never look nice. I have nice clothes, and even really fancy clothes, but I shouldn't have to look like I'm about to have a job interview on the daily. Wearing comfortable clothes makes me feel so much better going about my day.

There's a time and place for dressing up.

Knowing when to dress up and when you don't have to is a must; however, what kind of clothes I purchase and wear is my choice. It's not like I dress in a provocative outfit either. I'm just wearing leggings and a t-shirt because that is how I like to dress for casual events.

Being comfortable or not is my choice.

When I have a job, my attire is no longer up to me and what I prefer. When I reach that point, I know what kind of clothing is acceptable and what is not. However, for right now, the outfit I choose to wear to my hour long lecture or note-taking is my choice. Girls should know when it is necessary to dress up and when it is not required or expected. Society, though, should not be telling me what I should and should not wear on a day to day basis.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
