It started off with long messages that would send multiple times in a broken order that we, as "texters" had to put together. We were first introduced with flip-phones and sidekicks, those were the days, ringtones with our favorite hits ("Mr. Carter" - Lil Wayne was mine) and endless AIM and BBM messages flooding our outbox. As technology has evolved, our sidekicks and flip-phones have been replaced with Androids and iPhones.
I have a love-hate relationship with texting because I enjoy having conversations face-to-face, and sometimes texting can be more than misleading, nothing but assumptions that could possibly lead to arguments--I'd rather avoid that.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets annoyed with certain aspects of texting. Let's take a look at some of my pet peeves for texting.
1. "Oh, I could have sworn I sent this message"
We've all done it. But let's be real, what really happened was that we seen the text, thought about responding, but when it came down to it, we "forgot."
2. Read at 8:08 p.m.
This really should not be an option, honestly. Let's just keep it at "delivered" without any motives to get the person you're beefing with tight if you leave their message on read.
3. You text me to start a conversation but then you don't text me back?
Now, this is pure disrespect. How do you go out of your way to text me, get me excited for a dope convo then you don't respond? What was your point in the first place because you just low key played me.
4. "Lol" after every text you send
I get it. You want to be lively through text because you're worried that you'll be too serious if you don't add at least one "lol." Just relax, because you're overthinking it but the constant lol's are a bit much.
5. New phone, who this?
This has never happened to me but we all know what's up. We don't forget that one number that we texted every day that easily.
6. "Oh." or "K."
Conservation enders, argument starters, an end before the actual start, really.
7. "I wasn't ignoring you, my phone was on do not disturb"
I'm guilty of this but we're all on our phones 24/7 these days, so I'm sure we seen those missed alerts.
