all about Thanksgiving? Before one can even be grateful for what they have, the
secular world gives them a million things to want. For goodness sake Christmas
is more than a month away and it’s already taking over the minds of millions of
Americans. It’s like everyone has forgotten all about Thanksgiving and skipped
right to Christmas; a week ago we celebrated Halloween and already all America
can focus on now is presents, Christmas lights, and Santa Clause; what about
the turkeys? Thanksgiving deserves more recognition than a five minute meal by
people gathered around the TV watching the football game. Thanksgiving should
not be minimized to a five minute meal where everyone ignores the other.
Thanksgiving should be about family time, but instead people are rushing
through family time in order to Christmas shop. Christmas has taken over
Thanksgiving, because five seconds after being thankful for all that one has,
everyone is rushing to get all the best deals on things that they really don’t
need. I think that it is about time that Thanksgiving is given its proper
recognition. We need to stop letting Christmas take over holidays that deserve
just as much attention as Christmas. For if America was truly celebrating
Thanksgiving than those stores would be empty because one would be thankful for
all that they have and not feel a need to buy more. This Thanksgiving don’t
waste your family time in long lines trying to get all the best deals, truly
spend time being thankful for the people in your life. Give thanksgiving its
proper recognition and make Christmas wait until December. If we make a change
in the way that we celebrate thanksgiving then maybe more people will have the
opportunity to spend time with their families and be thankful for all that they
have as well. So I hope that this year everyone spends less time in long lines
and more time around the dinner table with family, being grateful for all that
we have.
