To say that my family has had a crazy past two months, would be an understatement. Our family has had a shocking, stressful, emotional and definitely insane past two months. Our life has been completely flipped and turned upside down.
If two months ago you would have asked me what my life would look like in August... my answer would be no where near what my life looks like today. I would have said that I would be hanging out with my friends 24/7 (now that I can drive), starting dual-enrollment, and doing anything I want to do. Wow, little did I know how wrong I was. Let me tell ya, I was only right about one thing.....I'm about to start dual-enrollment. Yes, I can drive, but i'm not able to just do whatever I want because I have a license, and i'm not able to go hang out with friends whenever I feel like it. I had plans for what my life was gonna look like this summer, but God definitely showed me that I am not in control and that my plans for my life was not going to happen.
Although life isn't going as I planned, my life is going just as God has planned. God knew exactly what would be happening in my life at this point. If life went as I planned, my dad wouldn't be in the ICU, our cars wouldn't be falling apart, and life would be a lot smoother. Although life isn't going as I planned, it's going exactly how it needs to be going. Its hard to do this, but I believe you can find a lesson to learn in anything. If I were to name one thing that Christ has been teaching me, it would be learning hoe to loose control. Not in a bad way, but learning how to let go and allow God to be in control. I love being in charge and making decisions, so it is very hard for me to not be in control of everything, however God's way is 10 times better than my way.
Life doesn't always go as we plan it. There are often bumps in the road which push us off of our courses that we have set for ourselves. However, those "road blocks" that popup in our plans are often exactly what we need to reroute our lives back to being in accordance to God's will. We need to learn how to step aside and allow God to be pilot of our life. It is much better to be walking on God's path than walking on our own paths. I know it is not always easy to step back and allow God to be in control. Trust me, I know! When life gets tough and you want to be in control, I encourage you to remember Proverbs 19:21 which says "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." God's will is good. His plans will prevail, but we first must learn how to loose control.
