The pressure is on when it comes to being fit and if you're like me, than working out and eating healthy is not a priority. Fortunately, there is a way to become more fit by being lazy. Yep, you heard that right! Through multiple trial runs I was able to put together some simple tips on how to lose weight without the sweat!
1. Drink Water
Often times when we get hungry, we may just be thirsty. Try drinking a cold glass of water before grabbing that unhealthy snack.
2. Healthy Munchies
I have the unhealthy habit of replacing a healthy substantial meal with my snacks throughout the day. Pulling out the BBQ chips and Netflix and Chilling seems all too tempting. But instead of grabbing those high calorie foods, try switching the snacks to a veggie platter or some healthy crackers. That way you can cure the appetite and eat healthy at the same time!
3. Opening And Closing The Fridge
If you don't admit to having this problem, you are just lying! Sometimes we don't see anything we want, but mostly it is because we are bored. We do it unconsciously, we just walk over to the refrigerator and open and close it without actually grabbing anything. Stop doing this, you are just tempting yourself.
4. Park Further Away
If you need to drive somewhere try parking farther away than usual. As the weather gets closer it will be less and less enjoyable. But I guarantee that after a month you will thank yourself! And this will help if you tend to "hibernate" like me. Walking can accommodate for running. To give an example, "A 150-lb. person burns 45 calories walking a mile and 94.5 calories running a mile. By this standard, at all body weights, you have to walk 2.1 times the distance to burn the same amount of calories as running" (Rachel Moran, Livestrong.com).
5. Taking The Stairs
If you can't find the time to workout, sometimes taking the stairs can help fill that gap. If you take the stairs and continue walking versus the escalator or an elevator, you'll notice the muscle within time. There are stairs in almost every building and it is important to take advantage of them. A tip is to take advantage of mall stairs too.
6. The Bedroom Workout
Hence the name, this is a workout for yourself in your own personal bedroom. This is a simple workout consisting of 15 squats, 10 sit-ups (using the support of the edge of a bed helps), 5 pushups and 10 jumping jacks. This workout is simple and quick enough to do at least once a week and I need to give a shoutout to The Healthy Student Bible for the list. Designate a time each week to do this and hopefully the amount of times will soon increase.
When it comes to being healthy it's all about taking the little steps first in order to fully get to where you want to be. These tips will not cause a monumental change but will put you in the right direction. Sometimes you need to breakdown a workout a little in order to get the hang of things.
