It's 1:03 am. You are back in your dorm still on that study grind for your big Calc midterm. It's hard not to sit and work without craving a pint of blue bell ice cream or contemplating a late night run to Canes. Stocking your refrigerator with these three snacks can energize your brain and keep your mind off the junk food.
1.Peanut butter and bananas
Granola and Greek yogurt can be a great substitute to a blue bell craving. The coolness of the yogurt will give your mouth the sensation of ice cream, but will be way healthier option. Greek yogurt is another great source of protein. It is known to fight off illness and keep skin healthy. Greek yogurt is also high in iodine. Iodine is very important for you thyroid, which monitors your metabolism. Granola usually contains whole grain oats, nuts, and dried fruit. The whole grain oats and nuts contain high contents of fiber. Fiber is incredibly important for the digestive system. It can also make you feel fuller after eating.
3.Cheese and grapes
I absolute love snacking on cheese and grapes, however, both of these items do go bad a lot quicker than the snacks above. An alternative to grapes could be frozen berries. Regarding nutritional value, the cheese will contain a good source of protein and calcium and the grapes (and or other fruit) will have a high content of vitamins and minerals.
With these three snacks in your refrigerator, you'll be sure to stop the unhealthy cravings and feel a lot less guilty after your late night munchies!
