It's the holiday season!! Every house you see is decorated with lights, the smell of cookies, hot chocolate, and peppermint are in the air. Everyone's bringing out the ugly holiday sweaters, and of course, everyone's rushing around last-minute to get that perfect gift for a loved one. As a college student, the holiday season is always the most stressful time for me.

Not only am I tight on money, but I also don't have the time. So, for all of you broke college students who are short on time, here are several last-minute holiday gifts that cost next to nothing.

1. Framed Art/Photo

There are many thrift stores that have cheap picture frames for less than $20.00. You can use art supplies from home and create a picture, letter, or print out a picture of you and a loved one you cherish to put in your frame. The picture can be anything to your liking that makes you think of said loved one. This can be a sentimental gift for a loved one to show them how much you care about them and can be framed so you can be thought about every time they look at that picture.

2. Handmade Hair Accessories

This can be made with bobby pins or hair ties, with things such as small jewels, ribbons, or even small bows that cost less than $10.00. You can gather your hair accessories and craft supplies to create your personalized hair accessories. This can be great for a loved one to wear for a special occasion or any time of the year.

3. A Homemade Coloring Book

This can be created with photos on your computer using free photo editing software such as Pixlr. If you know how to draw, you can also draw different pictures or designs for a friend or family member to color in. When the pictures are finished, you can staple it or use a hole puncher and yarn to bind the pages. This gift can be perfect for any children in your family, or just a friend who is having a hard time and needs something to de-stress themselves.

4. Handmade Christmas Ornaments

You can be as creative as you would like with creating ornaments. You can make these ornaments out of pinecones, spray paint, and glitter, or you can cut shapes such as snowflakes, snowmen, or gingerbread men using construction paper. This could be for your loved one to remember you every year during the holiday season when it's time to decorate the Christmas tree.

5. A Recipe Book

Really into cooking and have a friend who also loves to cook? Then a recipe book would be the perfect gift! Instead of buying an entire recipe book, how about making one yourself with a binder and index cards? You can choose whatever recipe you enjoy mixing up and write them down on an index card for your loved ones to make and share with others.

6. A Coupon Book

As cheesy as this is, a small coupon book made with little pieces of paper can be an adorable idea for your significant other, plus it's an age-old classic. The coupons you make can be anything you like, from a free foot massage to breakfast in bed, to a day of hiking. They can be used at any time and would not cost a dime.

I hope everyone has a very happy holiday.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
