Last Minute Christmas Gifts For College Students

Christmas is only a few days away, and it's perfectly understandable if you've procrastinated on your Christmas shopping. Now that ordering online is out of the question and you only have a few days left, here are some last minute Christmas gifts that every student in your life is sure to love.

1. Money

You can never go wrong with money. Not only will they be able to spend it on whatever they like, but they're also sure to love it. Plus, this is the one gift you don't have to worry about them hating and secretly returning.

2. Gift cards

This one is a lot like money- it gives your student a wide range of options in one present. Just make sure to find out what stores they like to shop at before buying one.

3. Headphones

In college, one of the easiest things to lose are headphones. Coming from a college student, I could never have too many sets. Or, if you want to change it up, try getting your student wireless headphones- if they have never tried them, they might end up living them.

4. Food

A college kid can never have too much food. Whether they have a meal plan or not, it's always nice to have some extra food in the dorm/apartment, just in case.

5. Bluetooth speaker

Chances are, every student has some use for a Bluetooth speaker. In the shower, in their room, at a "study group" who knows, but they'll love it.

6. iPad/ Tablet

If you're going for something a little more pricey, get them an iPad or tablet, if they don't already have one. They can be convenient for the student who doesn't always want to carry their laptop everywhere.

7. Portable charger

Students can get busy a lot of the time and sometimes forget to charge their phone. A portable charger can always come in handy, and they'll definitely get use out of it.

8. Household items

Anything from pots and pans to bathroom cleaners could be helpful. Ask your student if they need anything or have something in mind for this one, to make sure you don't get any duplicate items

9. Multi-charger

This can be helpful especially for a student living in a dorm. Outlets can be limited and so anything that can charge multiple electronics at once would be a huge help.

10. Card games

Anything from Cards Against Humanity to a regular pack of cards would do great as a gift. Students love having fun with their friends and card games are always a good go-to activity.

11. Pizza holder

Possibly the most useful and practical of the list is the pizza holder. Yes, you read that right. A pizza holder. It hangs around your neck and holds a piece of pizza, for on the go pizza eating. Honestly if your student says they don't want this, they're lying.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
