Yesterday, reality star and lip kit saleswoman Kylie Jenner said that she does not like to borrow clothes from sister, reality star and model Kendall Jenner. Why is this a story? Kylie and Kendall Jenner are both sisters of the infamous sex tape star-turned-reality star Kim Kardashian, who rose to fame along with the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan in 2006 after a sex tape of Kim and musician Ray J was leaked. Ever since then the Kardashian and Jenner clan have been incredibly popular, and their every move has been documented in the famous reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” The show has become a favorite for many and has had 11 successful seasons. While I agree that the show is entertaining, (I’ll admit I have watched it once or twice) its many characters should not be a trending topic four out of five days and take up time during a news circuit.
The characters of the show are not actors, singers, athletes or even serious philanthropists. They provide little to society aside from entertainment. Yet, while they do not do much to contribute to society, they are admired and adored by society. Society has become obsessed with everything Kardashian/Jenner-related and has developed an appetite for the outlandish. Society has worshiped the craziness of the reality shows and the media has captured everything said by the reality stars. Since it is clear that there is love for the outlandish in society and that the media is willing to cover every aspect of it, why is the society so confused with the rise of Donald Trump for President? Trump is very brash and outlandish and every move he makes is documented and covered by the media. Sound familiar?
Trump is no stranger to reality shows, as he has starred in his own reality show, “The Apprentice,” which judges the business skills of a group of contestants, who are often celebrities. Trump’s campaign has become as intriguing and outlandish as a reality show with the campaign hitting a new level of craziness with a war over wives! Trump has not focused on political issues that campaigns are typically built on but instead has been based on attacks of other candidates, groups of people and bizarre attention grabbing statements.
Are the Kardashians much different than Donald Trump? In a world where celebrities with no talent are adored, why is it a surprise that a man with no political experience is running for president?
