Why My Little Sister Is Such A Big Deal

As cliche as it sounds, I couldn't ask for a better baby sister.

When I was younger, I never imagined looking up to my little sister. I was a stereotypical older sister who thought she was annoying and spoiled, but when I finally got over myself, I knew that I found my best friend. And that I was never going to let her go.

She's my Role Model. She inspires me every day to be a better and bigger person so that she has the world she deserves.

I Get to Watch Her Grow Up. Watching my favorite person grow up has taught me so many life lessons. It showed me that maybe I was a little bit of a brat when I was younger and that I needed to appreciate everything I had and never take anything for granted. Watching all of her first moments made my heart happy and those moments are only just beginning.

She Knows Not to Make the Same Mistakes as Me. Because she's also had the pleasure of watching me grow up- I get to make the mistakes for her. She's never made the same mistake as me and probably never will. I get to be the guinea pig for the both of us and I'm perfectly okay with that.

She's Hardworking. Probably no one in this world works as hard as she does. It's just another reason why she inspires me every day. She's been working towards a great college since the minute she stepped into high school. She's constantly challenging herself to do better and work harder than your Average Joe. Whether it's staying up late to study or because of work or a sport, from the moment she wakes up in the morning to the minute she goes to sleep, she's working her ass off and I couldn't be more proud.

She's Got a Cuter Closet Than Me. If I ever feel like being spunky or dressing different than I usually do, I have a closet to share with her. (She's much trendier than I am, I could probably learn a thing or two)

She's Covered for Me When I Needed It. Whether it be with our parents or one of my friends, she's always ready to defend me, and I her. I always have her back and am ready at a moments notice to show her off.

I Look Forward to Our Car Rides. Of course, I always complained about having to drive you places but at the end of the day, I look forward to our drives together. Whether they be 3 hours or 5 minutes. One ten-minute jam sesh with you is worth so much more than jam seshs alone. You always have new songs ready to show me, even if they're very out of the ordinary for me.

Soon, She'll Be Able to Drive My Lazy Butt Around For a Change. Now that you're about to drive (ew), you can start driving me around when I don't feel like it. (can you say designated driver??)

She Reminds Me What's Important In Life. After a long day of whining and complaining, when I'm with her I remember what's important in life. Family, friends, and making her happy.

She's Got My Back. I can't stress enough how much support she gives me on a daily basis, I couldn't be more grateful. I can only hope I support you just the same.

My Favorite Memories are With Her. I can't even count all the memories we've had together that have made me laugh until I cry. Weird moments that only we understand, no matter how hard we try to explain it to the rest of the world. Our inside jokes can turn my frown upside down on any day of the week. We share so much together. When I look back on the last 20 years of my life, I always remember the best memories are with you.

She's My Best Friend. As cliche as it sounds, I couldn't ask for a better baby sister. I remember praying for a baby sister the day you were born. Little me didn't realize how much of a huge impact you'd have on me. Every single day. Even being an ocean away can't come between us. I find a way to annoy you probably every day, and even seeing your potato self for a minute makes me smile. Love you lil slew. xoxo Big Slew.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
