It's Just A Cup!

In the wise words of Ed Stetzer: “It’s not Starbucks’ job to share the love of Jesus. It’s your job.”

It's Just A Cup!

It has come to my attention and to the attention of many, the "Starbucks Red Cups Controversy." I keep reading how more and more people are getting angry over a cup, some even boycotting the company. Personally I love the holiday cups at Starbucks. This year it shows a regular red cup with the green Starbucks logo — classic! It’s simple and easy; yeah it would be nice to have a few snowflakes or a Christmas tree or something Christmasy but that’s okay because IT’S JUST A CUP!

Why are people getting so upset over something that they throw away after you're finished drinking from it? SERIOUSLY? It makes no sense — there are bigger problems in the world today like poverty, war, affordable health care, costs of tuition, etc. And people are getting angry over a plastic cup design?

I believe if Starbucks is removing snowflakes, deer, and trees as a stylistic choice, that’s their business. I think it’s safe to say Starbucks didn’t change their cups with the intention of hatred towards Jesus. Instead of freaking out over choices beyond our control, I think everyone should remember what this time of year is for: to be with friends and family, celebrating your respective holidays, and letting them know how much you care about them.

We should stop being so selfish and self-centered. It’s just a cup, Christmas is not ruined because of some silly cup design. We should be happy and fortunate that we live in a place where we can afford that cup because there are people in the world that not only can’t afford a Starbucks coffee, but they probably can’t afford to put food on the table; or they probably can’t find a place to live, they probably live in a place where bad things like war happen; so please be fortunate that you live in a place where you don’t have to deal with a lot of the bad things that happen in this world.

Thank God. Thank Him that you have the opportunity to afford a caramel macchiato, or even buy someone else one instead. Thank God that coffee can act as a gateway that allows you to sit down and connect with someone and hear their story. It’s just a cup, folks. Get over it and enjoy your holidays.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
