We can’t stop time. This is a message that Americans are beginning to bemoan or celebrate as November draws closer. With three candidates left standing in the election and an upcoming debate between Socialist Sanders and Demagogue Donald, there seems to be no lack of discussion, anticipation and apprehension over the coming months and years.

There is something to be said here, however, in the race toward the White House from both sides of the political spectrum, red and blue. This year will go down in the history books, but not for something as straightforward as the race of our president. After all, it’s 2016, so why should it matter what the façade of our president is when it’s the man’s ideas and positions that truly make up his substance? Instead, in years to come, history books will look back on this political race as the starting point of America's greatest or most feared chapter.

Why is this? Well, this political race has exposed the situation that America really is in, with all sorts of unexpected truths coming out of the woodwork. First, to address the obvious orange elephant in the room, Donald Trump. He has given voice to the ideals of the extreme-right tea party and fed-up Americans who are tired of an increasingly politically-correct culture.

These citizens are finally standing up and saying no. However, the figure whom they are supporting has zero political experience and has been constantly ridiculed for the impolite remarks he has made to and about other candidates. Yet, the public is eating it up! In fact, we began to see an increase in people who have not been politically involved until recently and are now stepping forward to become the voice of the people, which just may be a good thing: fewer politicians in politics.

On the Democratic side, millennials come together with thousands of their comrades to march behind their blessed patriarch in hopes of achieving either Scandinavian glory or Venezuelan bust.

This movement will inevitably gain traction with their signs of safe spaces and genderless bathrooms, which are quickly replacing the anti-war posters that used to flood college campuses. In this campaign lies the truly politically radical, while Trump supporters may be the same type to say that Guantanamo Bay is no worse than a Day’s Inn Hotel, Bernie Sanders supporters will truly give up anything for their equality and free health care, a dangerous notion for those who truly understand the idea of liberty.

This rise of support of two opposites, sanitary equality and the dirty truth, shows us that this unrest will not soon end unless squelched by the oligarchy of Clinton. However, due to the increase in radical voters, this only signifies the approaching and inevitable change in the course of American history, ideals, society and possibly even government.

What can be taken away is that these fires will not soon die; they may burn down to embers, but it is only a matter of time before they resurface, hotter than before, ready to scorch anything in their way.
