It's Always A Great Day For A Birthday

As we get older, birthdays aren't as special anymore, but this year my family and friend made it a memorable one.

Today I celebrated my nineteenth birthday with some of the greatest people I have in my life. I am so blessed to have so many people that I know will make my day special for me. Through thick and thin I know that they will always be by my side. Here are all my favorite things I got to do for my birthday!

It is always great when you get what you asked for.

For my birthday from my boyfriend I was given a (much needed) new pillow, a home-made strawberry candle, home-made wax cube melts, and beautiful jewellery. Lets just say that I am pretty excited about my new pillow... I feel like I am getting old! I also was given a beautiful necklace and matching earrings from my boyfriends parents along with the Alice and Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass eyeshadow pallet from my sister. I am absolutely so excited to try it out! From my mom I was given a huge makeup box to keep my huge collection of makeup and from one of my best friends I was given a travel makeup bag and a whole bunch of new makeup and perfume! From my other best friend she painted me a beautiful painting of us under a purple willow tree. Also all of the cards that I have gotten from my family. It all means so much to me.

All the sweet and loving words from family and friends.

All day today my phone has been blowing up with so many notifications from my family and friends wishing me a happy birthday, sending their loving, wishing me a great day and an even better year to come. A majority of all of my birthday wishes came from my friends and family on Facebook. All my other birthday wishes came through loving texts and calls to sing me happy birthday! I beyond grateful for all of my loving family and friends.

Getting to do whatever I want!!!!

Today for my birthday I chose to have lunch at Chilli's with my amazing mom, sister, niece, boyfriend and my best friend (and the mother of my future goddaughter.) After we went to Chilli's my boyfriend and I took my four year old niece to Build-a-Bear since her birthday is seven days away from mine. All three of us made our own stuffed animal. My niece made a Peppa Pig, my boyfriend made a Superman Bear and I made a Donut Bear. We got to stuff them and make a wish and give them a heart. Then we named them then the next step was to print out a birth certificate (which means all of our animals have my birthday.) My bears name is Pixie, my boyfriend bear is named Smokey and my nieces pig was named Pinkie Pie. Then we all came home and sang happy birthday! This has been such a great birthday. I would not have wanted it any other way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
