In light of World Suicide Prevention Day, I have realized that I as a person has been influenced by many people who suffer from depression or other disorders, also I have known loved ones who have committed suicide. I just wanted to take time and to let everyone know, it always gets better. This is something that I started to say when I got to college and discovered that sometimes one has demons. This is not always a phrase to make others feel better, but sometimes it is a reminder to keep going! However, I think that this could be very important to someone who is ever down or considering taking their lives.
Just so everyone knows, while you might be feeling anxious, depressed, or moody, you are never alone in the world and there is someone who cares. We hear stories on the internet about those who have to learn to move on without their loved ones. Never put someone in that situation, it hurts trust me. To those who ever feel like taking their life, know that while it seems dark now, it always gets better.
The world is a rough place, and most know that already. Look around and see the people who are trying to be there for you. There is love in the world, one just has to open their eyes and see it. Sometimes it helps to get away from all the stress, sometimes it helps to listen to music, sometimes it's okay to cry. Trust me, if you feel like crying, cry! This is probably one of the most natural thing to do when one is feeling low. While society tells you that crying is bad and to just move on, do not listen to them. Cry your eyes out and take your time, because that is how you know it always gets better.
Sometimes when you say this, it does not have to mean that you are wanting to harm yourself. Everyone is made of emotions, therefore everyone gets upset. Sometimes the happiest people in the world are the most upset on the inside. Those who smile the most and those who try to make everyone happy, might just be hiding behind a smile. Sometimes, they just want to give someone a good day because they rarely have one. However, if you are one of those people, know this, it always gets better.
Lastly, I want to take a moment and remember everyone who has lost their battles and have committed suicide. You guys will never be forgotten. To my dear friend who just took his life last year, you will always be there. You affected many lives and made us smile when we were down. The friend group misses you. You will be my friend forever and when I have my next beer, i'll remember the good times we had. While it hurts that you are gone, I will see you again one day. It always gets better.
