Everyone has been raised a certain way and has been exposed to their own unique personal experiences. Not everyone agrees on the same things and that is why we have opinions. Having your own opinion is okay. Hating on someone else because they have their opinions and beliefs is not okay.
I appreciate those who want to learn about other's beliefs and I appreciate those who are so passionate that they want to share their beliefs, but there are is a time and place to say everything. When you ask about someone's belief, ask genuinely or don't ask at all. If you want to ask them to share their thoughts just to cut them off and inform them about why they should take on your belief, you're doing it wrong. Joining a club of like-minded people will strengthen your opinion and make you view the subject from points you have never seen before. If you're going to share your opinion with those who have the opposite view, make sure you are respecting their views because you both have experienced different experiences. You could not possibly think the same way as everyone you encounter!
If someone does not believe the same thing as you and you get annoyed, you need to take one step back and breathe. Do not be that person who allows opposing opinions to ruin relationships. I personally do not understand how people can not just live with the fact that people have different views on topics. Some people amaze me on what measures they go to in order to try to change people's beliefs.
We live in such a great country where we are allowed to have our own opinions and we should take advantage of that by, of course, being informed about everyone's opinion, but by also not putting people down for what they believe in.
Some people think that abortion is okay, some people don't. Some people think that gay marriage okay, and some people don't. We have to respect everyone in order to live in peace.
A true testament to one's maturity is the ability to coexist in a society full of differently opinionated people. And a true mark of a leader is the ability to work together with these different minded people to make a change as a unified community.
