After living in this town for some time, I have started to really enjoy it. Each area of Monroe county is unique and important in many ways. However, I am completely biased after seeing the buildings and scenery grow around me and become the town it was meant to be. Below I will be sharing some of my favorite spots that make Irondequoit one of the best places to visit.
House of Guitars - 645 Titus Ave, Rochester, NY 14617
This place has everything and I mean it! CDs, DVDs, records, instruments, live entertainment, and so much more! This place has so much character and has become a staple in the area.
Polska Chata - 32 Vinedale Ave, Rochester, NY 14622
With Fish Fry Fridays and Polish snacks, this eatery has so much culture and delicious meals to offer. The pastry dishes are even more amazing than the entrees! This is the place to go for any meal.
Titus Tavern - 690 Titus Ave, Rochester, NY 14617
This new bar in town includes both outside and inside seating, a huge selection, and talented bartenders. I love the selection and variety daily in draft beers as well as the community when sitting down. They even have the local Fickle 93.3 station come out on Wednesday for a weekly event.
Irondequoit Public Library- 1290 Titus Ave, Rochester, NY, 14617
This library is a combination of the older two that joined in a newer building in the center of town. There are many areas to study and relax as well as multiple people available to help you find what you need. The building also includes self check-out areas, private study rooms, boardrooms, and rooms for every age group. Loving your library has never been more exciting!
Ontario Mall Antiques in Irondequoit- 1850 E. Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY, 14622
A new addition below the Planet Fitness in Irondequoit, this antique mall has sales regularly and is open every day, unlike others. Many vendors have unique finds and excellent prices on the coolest items. This antique store will be loved for many years to come.
Irondequoit Marine Bay Park- Entrance possible from either Culver Road or Route 590 North, Irondequoit, NY 14622
One of my favorite parks! Close by to the bay, sandy beach area, a lighthouse, Seabreeze Amusement Park, feeding ducks, and classic hot dog venue. For awesome photography and a quick getaway to nature, this place packs the perfect punch for a good afternoon.
Parkside Diner- 4353 Culver Road, SeaBreeze, NY 14622
A yummy breakfast awaits your stomach at this cute and well-loved establishment. Not too far from the park mentioned above, it is surrounded by small businesses and lots of trees. This means it can be the perfect stop for a day out and about with family in the area or just a way to start the day. With a classic feel to the decor and area outside the building, this place will not fail you.
Rubino’s Italian Food- 1304 East Ridge Road, Rochester, N.Y. 14621
An Italian market and deli, this delicious stop is great for anyone with an appetite for specialty foods. Just like with the Polska Chata, this establishment provides many options and products often hard to find anywhere else.
The Market at I-Square - 400 Bakers Park, Rochester, NY 14617
This is one of the newest buildings in the plan to revitalize the downtown area of Irondequoit. So far, many people love it and the delicious food. From ice cream to wine socials, this place has much to offer. Don’t forget the rooftop seating! Above is the sustainable and quaint greenery that views the developing village.
I have a love for this town since seeing it grow into so much more. This year is seeing the growth in traffic to the village area and construction to create better roads in town. Often this town can be forgotten since it resides between the suburbs surrounding Rochester and the city atmosphere that can be found within. I thought I would be fine with the idea of leaving, but I can see now why people stay in Irondequoit and love it so much.
Irondequoit is sometimes the underdog in terms of development, but with people that care deeply, there is great future for this area. So, whether living near Rochester or just visiting, take some time to see the gems of my town and you’ll see why I call it home.
