Who Am I?

A Look Into My Life

Who Am I?

For my post this week, I wanted to formally introduce myself and tell everyone a little about who I am which included my personal life and professional accomplishments. So here it goes!

Hi! My name is Carly DiAntonio and I’m a senior (yikes) at Bowling Green State University. I have lived in Columbus, Ohio all of my life with my sister Cassie, my mom Kelly, and my dad Anthony. I recently got engaged to my fiancé Tavish whom I cannot wait to marry on April 14th 2018! I have a dog Dezi and a cat named Binx, whom I adore. I have six tattoos. Most people are shocked by that. I am mostly seen exercising, binge watching Netflix or spending time with the ones I love.

I am majoring in journalism with a specialization in public relations and minoring in Marketing. I switched to public relations spring of my freshman year. I didn’t know much about the field so I joined PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) to gain more knowledge. After joining, I realized I had found something I loved. My passion for writing, and social media has grown expediently since joining PRSSA and the Department of Journalism at BGSU.

While in PRSSA, I’ve composed two winning public relations plans for the Toledo Symphony School of Music and The Hatch Program at BGSU in which both are being currently utilized. I currently intern with Worthington Industries which is a international manufacturing company headquartered in Columbus. I have had the honor to be a part of the corporate communications team where I am completing a project which concerns brand recognition of the company in particular communities in which they are looking for candidates. It's been a challenging time but I have loved all of it. This fall, I will be a Marketing Attendant with BGSU Recreation and Wellness department where I will be using InDesign to create promotions, social media work and of course lots of writing! I hope to use these tools I've learned towards a job after college in May!

Besides my academic involvement, I am a member of Sigma Kappa Theta Upsilon chapter, a Panhellenic sorority. I also am a member of The BGSU Chaarg Chapter which is an all-women health organization that advocates the importance of a healthy lifestyle. I also like to nap and relax when I have some down time.

It has taken me a while to get where I am now. It has never been easy but looking back, I've accomplished many things I am proud. I sometimes don’t give myself enough credit that I deserve. I have grown into a woman who has the passion to do anything she sets her mind to. I have so much life ahead of me and I'm eager to see where it takes me. Life is a crazy ride and it’s just getting started!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
