Fictional characters can still inspire.

“She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant and beautiful and brave. In two years, she’d grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I’m not sure she even knows it." These words Lucas Scott wrote in his novel brought viewers to tears and left every girl wanting to have the impact on love and on life that Brooke Davis did. With the stress piling up as the semester ends, it's hard to stay positive, focused and willing to push forward. Although she's a fictional character (I pretend she isn't), Brooke Davis never fails to inspire. Here's nine B-Davis quotes to get you through your day.

1. "I do what I do, and I like what I like and that's just who I am."

Embrace yourself: your likes, your dislikes, your quirks, your pet peeves, your turn-ons, your hopes, your dreams. Embrace every little aspect about yourself, even some of the negative ones. All of these things are what makes you the person you are right now, the person you'll be in 10 years and the person who's gotten this far.

2. "Love is a wonderful thing. And it doesn't knock often, so when it does, make sure to open the door."

Love is a scary thing. It's also exhilarating. However, it's true: love doesn't come around all that often. Take a deep breath and let it in. Enjoy the ride.

3. "Everyone should have that. A place that makes them happy."

Where's your place? Maybe it's not an actual place, maybe it's a state of mind, or a smell or a touch. Maybe it's curled up in blankets in your bed or maybe it's the thrill of a loop on a roller coaster. Wherever it is, whatever it is, find something or somewhere that makes you happy and hold onto it. Go there when you need it.

4. "You don't get to have me, not my body and sure as hell not my heart."

We love and we lose, and unfortunately that's just how life goes sometimes. Don't settle for anything or anyone less than you deserve. Don't give yourself, physically or emotionally, to anyone unless you are ready and unless they are deserving of how amazing you are.

5. "Anorexia is a disease, it is not a fashion statement."

Too often we are pressured by the media to look a certain way, to dress a certain way, to put down the doughnut and pick up the weights. What you look like makes you beautiful for who you are. Don't be beautiful for someone else, don't try to be beautiful to look like someone else. Be your own kind of beautiful, no matter what shape or size.

6. "People are gonna label you. It's how you overcome those labels, that's what matters."

No matter where you are or how old you are, people will make judgements. Whether it's a boss, a friend or a stranger, people might put their own labels across your forehead without you even knowing it. Continue to be yourself, and be the best version of yourself that you can be. At the end of the day, you are who you are; embrace your individuality.

7. "I know your type. I used to be a bit of a bitch just for the sake of being one, but now I am a b**** for the sake of my friends and family."

If you're going to fight, fight for a purpose. Fight for something, for someone. Put your heart into it and fight like hell.

8. "Do you know what my mother said to me when I told her I waned to start a company? She said your chances are one in a million. And I said maybe I'm that one, and she said you're not. And she was wrong. And whatever she thought she saw in me, was wrong. Because I am one in a million."

Life is a bitch sometimes. It's a bitch that's constantly behind you pulling your hair and slapping you upside the head. But you keep moving forward, and you will continue to move forward. Through all the struggles and hardships, all the tugs and slaps. You may not have experienced anything extraordinary in your life, you may have not dealt with a life-altering hardship. Or maybe you have. Regardless, you are strong. You are invincible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
