The Importance Of Family

Coming home for these five days before pre-recruitment/school/etc, I realized that there is nothing I love more than spending time with my family.

After living basically alone this past summer, I have relied on my family more than ever. I came home about every other weekend just to hang out with my parents and see my dogs. To relax and get away from the stress of school. Worked like a charm.

Nothing meant more to me when my Mom came up for the weekend, going shopping, and just chilling on the couch watching movies. A couple weeks later, my Dad came up just for the night, we went out to dinner, and then I dropped him off at his car the next morning before class. Just a simple 24hours changed my whole mood for the rest of the week.

Although I was focused on my studies basically 24/7, I was constantly bored. Coming home and seeing my parents made a world of a difference. They knew I was having a rough time living alone, not having the typical summer I have grown up to have. They tried their hardest though to make it easier on me as possible.

More importantly, I couldn't thank them enough for coming up to Tallahassee this past weekend to help me move apartments. Even though it was a lot of work, we did have a lot of time doing it. My parents do so much for me, and I hope that I make them proud in all that I do, but I want them to know how much I appreciate them.

My summer break consists of basically five days, and there is nothing else I would want to do than spend time with them. I can see my friends at any time, but my parents, not so much. It means more to me than they will ever know, and I love just hanging at the house catching up about how our day was.

To my Mom and Dad, thank you for all that you do. I know I ask for a lot, and that I can be a lot to handle, but I hope that in the long run, it was all worth it. I love you guys more than you know!

No Sex And Upstate New York

A modern-day reincarnation of Carrie Bradshaw's classic column

Around the age of 12, when I was deciding whether or not to be gay, Satan appeared on my left shoulder. “Ramsssey,” he said with that telltale lisp. “Come over to our side. We have crazy partiessss.” He made a strong case, bouncing up and down on my shoulder with six-pack abs and form-fitting Calvin Kleins. An angel popped up on the other shoulder and was going to warn me about something, but Satan interrupted- “Shut up, you crusty-ass bitch!’ The angel was pretty crusty. She disappeared, and from that moment forward I was gay.

Senior Year Is Here And I Am So Not Ready For It

I was you not that long ago. I was once an eager freshman, a searching sophomore, and a know-it-all junior. Now? Now I am a risk taker. Not the type that gets you in trouble with your parents, but the type that changes your future. Senior year is exciting. A lot of awesome things come along with being the top-dog of the school, but you, right now, are building the foundation for the next 4 years that you will spend in high school. I know you've heard it all. "Get involved", "You'll regret not going to prom", "You're going to miss this". As redundant as these seem, they're true. Although I am just at the beginning of my senior year, I am realizing how many lasts I am encountering.

The Power Of Prayer Saved My Best Friend's Life

At the end of the day, there is something out there bigger than all of us, and to me, that is the power of prayer.

Why Driving Drives Me Crazy

the highways are home

With Halloween quickly approaching, I have been talking to coworkers about what scares us. There are always the obvious things like clowns, spiders, heights, etc. But me? There are a number things I don't like: trusting strangers, being yelled at, being in life or death situations, parallel parking. All of these are included when you get behind the wheel of a car.
