There's always times in life where things just don't seem to go your way. Whether it's work or school, there are days that just don't seem to be for you. It's these moments when it's more important than ever to keep a positive mindset. There is always another opportunity, and as cliche as it may sound, there's always another door that opens when one closes. Even though it may seem hard to at times, just being positive can turn things around.

It's no secret that when things are not going your way, your mindset gets more and more negative, and everything little thing seems like the end of the world. Trust me, I've been there. It's at these times that being positive may seem like the last thing you can possibly do. But it's so important to never give up.

On the days where things seem like they just can't get any worse, the worst thing you can do is to become negative about it. It's a toxic mindset, and it's one that only pulls you in more. Before you know it, nothing is okay, and you just want to curl up in your bed and ignore the world. While we all have days like that, and it's okay to take time to yourself after a hard day, wallowing in it is the worst thing you can do. You can never grow from moping around wishing that things were different. The only way you can change things is by getting out of bed, taking on the day, and keeping faith that things will all work out.

With a positive mindset, you can take on the world. The movers and shakers of this world never let a rejected project pitch or failed assignment keep them from doing what they were passionate about. When rejection is taken as constructive criticism, it becomes a learning experience, and suddenly you can bring growth to what seemed like the end of something. There's always room to learn, which is why it's important to stay positive.

Things truly do happen for a reason. Looking back on what were devastating moments to me in my past, I've learned that everything worked out for the better. Because of certain things not working out, I was able to take on even greater opportunities, meet amazing people, and learn more about myself and my capabilities than I ever would have had things gone the way I planned them. So the next time that you are feeling that things will never work out, that there's no light at the end of the tunnel, I'm here to tell you that things will work out. Being positive and looking at things as new opportunities and learning experiences will allow you to grow in ways that you never thought you could. So embrace the bump in the road, and take on these new challenges because there's only a better you that can come from it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
