I'm A Kardashian Fan, And I'm Not Sorry

From the wise words of Kim Kardashian: 'Don't be f**king rude.'

I'm the one all of my friends go to ask if a Kardashian rumor is true as if I personally know them. I follow them all on Snapchat, Instagram and every other social media outlet you can think of. As soon as "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" aired in 2007, I was hooked.

Before you tell me they're only famous for a sex tape, they have no talent or any other speculation you have about them, just know I don't care. I'm so sick of having to defend myself every time I mention I'm a fan of theirs. Yes, there was a sex tape that was made over 10 years ago. No, they can't play the guitar or act in a Broadway play. However, that doesn't mean they don't deserve their place in Hollywood. They are business women. Hollywood is a business. They took a bad situation and turned it into a hit reality TV show with 12 seasons, multiple clothing and beauty lines, mobile apps and video games. They endorse everything from skincare to waist trainers to vitamins to hair extensions to so many other things.

People are always critiquing them for being bad role models. Truth is, they never signed up to be anyone's role model. People call them every demeaning name for a woman in the book because of how they dress, what they post and basically anything else they do. Hello, isn't that slut-shaming? Get off your high horse because we aren't in the middle ages. Women should be able to show as little or as much skin as they want without a rude comment being thrown their way. I don't see anything wrong with how they present themselves. Yes, they flaunt their amazing bodies with clothes that aren't so modest, but fun fact: they aren't on their way to a convent, and this is 2016, so get over it. If anything, the Kardashians demonstrate self-love with every infamous selfie they post. Selfies aren't a sign of conceitedness. They show the world you feel amazing about yourself that day, and there is nothing wrong with that. Share away.

What's the next thing the Kardashians are known for; their stupidity? There is no way of truly measuring intelligence. They probably can't tell you what year the Mona Lisa was painted or how many cells make up the human body, but they are 100 percent able to tell you all about closing a business deal or what Instagram post can stir up a media frenzy in a matter of seconds. That is what makes them so spectacular. I would think a couple of brain cells are needed to make a multi-million dollar brand for yourself, so you're whole "stupid" theory is out the window. If all of you are so much smarter than them, why isn't everyone a millionaire? They know how to maneuver themselves around perfectly to always stay relevant, and they always make decisions that keep every penny to their name. I think that makes them talented, resourceful and inspirational business women.

At the end of the day, people are always going to have their own opinions, but that doesn't mean I can't have mine. I'm not a stupid, superficial, materialistic, "main-stream" brat for liking the Kardashians. I will always have a special place in my heart for them especially since their family inspired my decision of studying public relations. That may sound "sad" or "pathetic" to you, but I genuinely could not care less. I don't know where you stand, but for me:

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
