Canadian sensation The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) recently debuted his third studio album, titled Starboy. In the days following the highly-anticipated release, multiple songs have risen to the top of the charts, some of those charts being real and others being in his fans own hearts. His songs are known to be calming and relatable, and it’s hard not to sing along to the lyrics. There’s a song for everyone - even for each zodiac sign. Which song are you?
Aries - “False Alarm”
March 21st to April 20th
Thriving in a sea of impulse, an Aries enjoys taking control. They live in the fast lane and their veins pulse with as much energy and enthusiasm as the ringing of an alarm. Though they can come off ass aggressive instead of straightforward, an Aries always has the best intention in mind. They are instinctive and know where to see the good and the bad. Even if they are self-centered and cause the trouble (like the girl known to be the “false alarm” in the song), they are courageous and cunning and know exactly how to escape any situation they find themselves in. Some view an Aries as childish, but an Aries is simply a competitive individual attempting to find their road to glory.
Taurus - “Love to Lay”
April 21st to May 20th
Faithful. Persevering. Concrete. A dictionary exists with the amount of adjectives that can be used to describe a Taurus. They are individuals who enjoy the simpler things life has in store for them. Because of this, they are not open to change and find it hard to adapt. In the track, the artist realizes that the individual he fell for is not exactly who he thinks he is and that he needs to be patients with them to get what he wants. A Taurus enjoys waiting and believe it can take as much time as it needs to be done properly and to their own standards.
Gemini - “Reminder”
May 21st to June 21st
A Gemini questions and answers in response - it’s just how they work. They are curious ones, their mind constantly active. However, a Gemini doesn’t mind being lively and humorous, and they enjoy finding new companions. In the song, the protagonist is determined to make people remember who he is for what he believes he is. He makes people question just who he is and respond with their own interpretation - the main trait of a true Gemini.
Cancer - “True Colors”
June 22nd to July 22nd
A Cancer lives a sheltered life. Though they are dreamy and imaginative, they feel a need to protect themselves from everything harmful on the planet. Their natural instinct is to avoid risk, though they don’t mind facing the dangers in a fantasy world they create. Here, they share the different sides they have: sensitive, faithful, nostalgic. A Cancer has a difficult time revealing their true colors to someone and prefer to do it when they believe the time is safe, which is the premise of the song.
Leo - “Attention”
July 23rd to August 22nd
Leo - confident and powerful. They are the leaders who gain respect from their peers due to the control they have over others. A Leo welcomes the idea of being watched and finds it to be the most sincere form of flattery. They thrive for attention, yet they still feel proud instead of defeated when the attention disappears. And the song? The name itself manages to capture everything a Leo is in a single word.
Virgo - “I Feel It Coming”
August 23rd to September 22nd
In the song, the singer is conversing with an individual who is afraid to love again due to a poor first encounter with it. Perhaps they are a Virgo? A Virgo is defined to be nervous and cautious, often pondering and reviewing all options available before choosing the best one. They can be cold and anxious but are often more shy and reserved. The narrator of the hit single recommends taking everything “step-by-step,” which is something a Virgo appreciates. They are organized and attentive to detail. The song itself is soothing and calming in tempo, and the lyrics are repeated often. Perhaps the artist was attempting to impress a Virgo afterall?
Libra - “Starboy”
September 23rd to October 22nd
The title track of the album illustrates the life of a man in the spotlight, bringing to light everything he has done while showing him just exactly who he is - not who he thinks he is. This situation usually occurs within the life of a Libra. Their psychology nature is a decision they make. They can choose to be either strong or fragile. They can decide to be either communicative or nervous. However, the choice isn’t always easy. Like the man in the song, he has to choose whether he wants to keep living as what other’s see him to be or if he wants to break out of his shell and becoming a new person. A Libra must do the same, but at least they don’t have to do it with millions of followers watching their every move.
Scorpio - “Party Monster”
October 23rd to November 21st
Some people wish to be the life of the party, but not everyone can walk away with the title as the ultimate party monster. A Scorpio is often aggressive in attitude and finds pleasure in puzzling others with unusual behaviors. They can be powerful and enjoy the feeling of being alive in dangerous situations, much like a party monster. However, they are often very unsure of themselves. Like the narrator of the song, they are constantly reassuring themselves that you are “good” and “great,” but they hunt for that one thing that will confirm just how good they really are. This may cause them to live in a “paranoid” state, much like a Scorpio who experiences the anxious and jealous emotions.
Sagittarius - “Rockin’”
November 22nd to December 20th
With a soul built upon charisma and drive, a Sagittarius is the type to find a challenge and succeed in it in any way they can. They enjoy living in the moment and don’t fret about what the future may hold for them. They are bold and action-oriented. a Sagittarius likes completing obstacles the moment they face them. In the song, the singer is just living his night like everyone else does while telling others to do the same. That is all a Sagittarius wants to do, so they do it.
Capricorn - “Sidewalks”
December 21st to January 19th
Introverted and cold, a Capricorn is content living their life independently. The singer tells of a life where he was raised with very few influential adults present. Eventually, he decided to leave and make a life for himself - a life that he wanted and desired to enjoy. That is all a Capricorn wants to do. They want to be focused and steady, responsible for everything they are handed without having to worry what others think or how it will affect them. Though a Capricorn can be warm and honest on the inside, they are too busy finding the different sidewalks in life to reveal this side of their personality.
Aquarius - “Nothing Without You”
January 20th to February 18th
There are some individuals who can exist without having a single soul in their lives, but an Aquarius does not have that luxury. The are sensitive and value relationships with each person they meet, whether that being a simple friendship or more. They like being a part of something more. Though they could experience life alone, they choose not to. In the song, the narrator proclaims that he is “nothing” without the individual he is speaking to, whether that being a friend or a significant other. An Aquarius lives the same way. They could survive without someone, but they prefer to partake in the adventure that is life with someone by their side.
Pisces - “Die For You”
February 19th to March 20th
Pisces - born to serve and compromise. They are defined to be individuals who adapt to the situations they encounter, erasing all forms of differentiation. Dedication runs through their veins, something evident in the song. The narrator is ready to “die” and perform any other act necessary for the one he loves because he is dedicated to the love they share together. He hates seeing his significant other upset, and a Pisces coincidentally has a habit of wanting to fix everything. While some may see them as emotional and moody, they are instead passionate and will do whatever it takes to have everything that has returned to its original state.
