If You Feel Alone

Times can get really hard, but I know my Heavenly Father will always have my back.

If You Feel Alone
Thirst For Travel

I’m writing this with an extremely heavy heart. This morning wasn’t like any other morning. I got up, went to my 8 AM, went back to my sorority house, and sat on the couch. Normal. I have numerous unread texts flooding my phone. Not normal. As I woke up this morning, I discovered the news that a fellow Panhellenic member had passed away. Though I was not close with this beautiful woman, the Panhellenic community is one big family and this affects us all.

I am a firm believer in that God has a plan for everything. No matter what has or will go on in your life, the good, the bad, the ugly, your good days, your bad days – HE WILL take care of you. HE WILL be there to comfort you. When you think you have no one or you feel alone or if you feel scared, please know this: you are NOT alone. You are loved. You are cherished. You are His perfectly imperfect creation and He desperately wants you to know just how much he adores you.

If you’re feeling low or doubtful, take a moment to remind yourself that your Heavenly Father has it all figured out and everything will work out according to His plan.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your path.”

Proverbs 16:9

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”

Isaiah 58:11

“And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

Proverbs 19:21

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

Proverbs 23:18

“Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”

Psalms 23:4

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:37-39

“Yet in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor demons, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
