If Your Ex Texts You, Remember The Best Response Is No Response

You're so much better than this.

Now that it's officially cuffing season again, everyone is ready to get into a cute relationship. This very likely means your ex is going to come crawling out of the cave they've been hiding in and hit you with that "hey" text randomly. Because you too are interested in looking for something a little more serious at the moment, your mind may quickly jump to texting them back.

Take a moment and step back, sit down your Pumpkin Spice Latte and your iPhone before you type out that response because I have one thing to tell you:

If your ex texts you, remember the best response is no response.

It doesn't matter if it's cuffing season or the heat of July, there is NEVER a good time to get back with your ex. They're an ex for a reason. Remember when they cheated on you? Or how they never wanted to set aside the time to get to know your family? Or how all they ever wanted was sex? Yeah, I know you remember that, even if you say you don't, and by texting them back, you're setting yourself up for that cycle once again.

Nine times out of ten, people DON'T change. Thinking that your ex is this completely new person who is absolutely perfect for you is honestly kind of foolish. All you're doing by texting your ex back is setting yourself up to fall right into them again. Do people deserve second chances? In some cases, yeah, but when it comes to your ex, probably not. Otherwise, you two would've just taken a break, not completely broken up.

When you text your ex back, you're bringing back all of the feelings that you had when you were with them. It doesn't matter if you two broke up a month or a year ago, those old feelings will come creeping in when you see their name pop across your phone again. And if you're an intelligent being, you know damn well that feeding into them and replying will do nothing more than make those feelings get deeper and deeper.

You deserve a love so much greater than what your ex gave you. You deserve someone who is your best friend in every way. You deserve a love that never makes you doubt that you are worthy. In all honesty, you ex will never give that to you. All you'll get out of texting your ex is one subpar night of sex and a couple more months of heartache.

Don't text your ex back. You're so much better than that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
