If Buildings at LSU Were Celebrities

Lockett

Lockett is Kim Kardashian. If you go to LSU, you know Lockett. If you have the internet, you know Kim Kardashian. Lockett is arguably the worst building on campus. It’s hot, the basement classrooms leave little room for personal space, and finding your class on the first day of school is harder than a blind guy finding Waldo.

Over the course of your time here, you’ve had at least one class in this building. Just like you can’t escape the torture that is Lockett, you can’t escape the torture that is Kim Kardashian. THEY ARE BOTH EVERYWHERE. To avoid either of these, you would have to either transfer schools or throw away your phone because they will continue to haunt you until Kim stops taking selfies, which is never.

Middleton Library

Middleton Library is Nicholas Cage. This one kind of speaks for itself. Everyone bashes Nicholas Cage just like everyone bashes Middleton. Yet everyone still goes to Middleton to study, and you’re lying if you’ve never seen National Treasure. Both are so bad, yet you can’t stay away. Also, taking the stairs to the fourth floor at Middleton is the same as watching a Nicholas Cage movie. It leaves you breathless (in the worst way), light-headed, and extremely regretful.

It’s not like Nicholas Cage is an awful actor. He’s just an actor who appears in a lot of bad movies. Just like Middleton is not an awful place, just an awful place to pull an all-nighter studying. Things could be worse though: you could be watching a movie of Nicholas Cage IN Middleton. Count your blessings, folks.

Tiger Stadium

Tiger Stadium is Ellen DeGeneres. I'm probably very biased in this decision because I spend about half my day watching Ellen videos on YouTube, but how could you not like Ellen DeGeneres or Tiger Stadium? If you dislike either of these things you are living your life wrong. Both make people happy, both hail from the greatest state in the country, and both put on a show that not only entertains but also brings people together as a community. Even if it’s not the best episode of Ellen or even if the Tigers lose, there are never any regrets from watching because Ellen and the Tigers can do no wrong.

Himes Hall 52A

Himes Hall 52A (the testing center) is Lindsey Lohan. Walking into Himes, you feel like Lindsey Lohan in her prime. This would be the era of the Lindsey “sweet, Freaky Friday/Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen” Lohan. Walking out, you feel like Lindsey “2006, DUI, gone cray” Lohan.

Himes is a building that has so much potential. It’s in the quad, it’s historical-looking, and I'm sure it has a lot to offer. But instead, it’s known as the place where all of your dreams go to die. The same goes with Lindsey. She has so much potential, yet so many arrests. But it’s okay, Lindsey had some good movies back in the day and I’m sure you’ve made at least one A on a test in Himes. But now, both just bring upon a wave of “what could have been.” It's okay though; next time you are taking a test remember you could be Lindsey Lohan in that orange jumpsuit. Things could always be worse. Unless Lindsey Lohan herself is reading this. If so, I am sorry.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
