As those who are familiar with the Big Ten know, every school involved is unique and special in its own way. No two are the same. Basically, Big Ten colleges are snowflakes. Here's a breakdown of the sign that best represents each snowflake in all their snowflakin' glory.
University of Minnesota - Gemini: As the saying goes, a Gemini is a “merchant of many trades yet a professional at none." A Gemini is also intellectually oriented because of their air element. As a school with a graduate program for basically anything, an urban yet still collegiate feel, and a Minnesota nice student body, it's a college with many different faces and personalities; just like the Gemini Twins. Not to mention the athletic program that manages to give students enough pride and hope each season to have strong year, yet when it doesn't work out, nobody is really too disappointed or shocked.
I'm not saying that they're the BEST at everything, nor am I saying that they suck. However, the Gophers can certainly dabble in many different areas. Therefore, I personally feel that Minnesota could not be represented any better than by Gemini.
University of Wisconsin - Sagittarius: Considering a Sagittarius is inclined to be outgoing, aggressive, and optimistic, it would represent the Badgers well. Just as the Sag in your life will keep you entertained, so will the beautiful city of Madison. There is always somewhere to be or something to do, no matter what season, and the students definitely make the most out of it.
With contagiously positive energy pulsing throughout the school, it's no wonder that the Badgers are a more “glass half full" kind of crowd. Wisconsin also has a Sagittarius-like sense of school pride, considering both are obsessed with themselves and aren't ashamed to let it show. At Wisconsin, you'll always have something to look forward to and you can't help but maintain high hopes, just like a Sag.
University of Michigan - Libra: Just like Gemini and Aquarius, Libra falls under the Air element, making them one of the “intellects" of the zodiac. I think it is more than safe to say the Wolverines know their stuff just by looking at their strong academic programs across the board. Although they aren't as cocky as the Sagittarii (aka Badgers) of the world, they still have unbreakable school sprit and make it clear that they are number one.
No matter what season, the gorgeous U Mich campus will make you do a double take of either the ultra-collegiate buildings, massive Greek houses, or impressive sports facilities, if not all of them. Basically, they know how to present themselves, just as the Libras out there do.
Northwestern University - Aquarius: Considering Northwestern does NOT f#%@ around with their academics, they have acquired a bit of a “nerdy" reputation for themselves. However, if you know any Wildcats (or an Aquarius) personally, you'll understand they simply live by a work very hard, play hard motto. Just as the self-aware Aquarius knows exactly who they are and where they stand in relation to others, or in this case the Big Ten, Northwestern-ers don't feel the need to “prove themselves" to anyone. They are confident in themselves, their school, and waste no time trying to impress others. They know they already have.
Also known to be a good-looking, head-turner among the zodiac signs, the historic architecture along Lake Michigan in the perfect college town (Evanston) is pretty dang sexy. Oh, and being one short train ride from Chicago is pretty attractive, too.
Indiana University - Leo: Another loud and proud school, the Hoosiers like being in the limelight as much as a Leo does. As a sign in the fixed category, they are pretty consistent in their sports programs, academic programs, and ability to have a good time. As a sign that hates anything routine or dull, you can expect an extravagant show at IU if you're ever to visit. This is especially applicable to the "go big or go home" attitude portrayed by the huge Greek system on campus.
University of Illinois UC - Capricorn: As hardworking go-getters, U of I students can definitely achieve the goals they set. They're just as ambitious as Capricorn, if not more. With an outrageous engineering program, they're just as forward thinking and innovative as Capricorn. The impressive accomplishments from the art school shouldn't be underrated, either, as it proves that they can be the creative instigators that Capricorns are known to be.
Any personal experience with the Illini probably left you with the impression that they're a grounded, personable group of people. This is a lot like the Earth element qualities that are especially represented by Capricorns. All in all, U of I students and Capricorns would much rather be working toward their dreams than dreaming them.
University of Iowa - Pisces: As a water sign, Pisces tend to be emotional at times but mostly imaginative. With a highly recognized Writer's Workshop with graduates such as Flannery O'Connor, you can say they are in tune with their academic programs on an introverted scale. This is completely different, however, from their lively night life thanks to the college bars all over campus and Hawkeye pride for all season sports.
Purdue University - Virgo: As an Earth element, Virgos are very “down to earth," similar to the Midwest attitude in West Lafayette, Indiana. Considering Virgos are known to be observant and analytical, I felt this was relatable to Purdue in terms of their emphasis on sciences and technology. As a major research university that may not always get the credit it deserves, the Boilmakers can maintain an “under the radar" persona that doesn't need to be noticed or overly popularized to feel accomplished.
Michigan State - Cancer: Cancers are water signs, so they have quite an imagination. Considering Michigan State has made a name for their graduate schools, they have proved that they can persevere in areas that they work hard toward, just like Cancers. This is especially applicable to the impressive football team that has almost never had a bad year.
Ohio Sate - Scorpio: Scorpios are kind of unpredictable and can be the wild card of the Zodiac. Not saying that Ohio State is all over the place, but with such a big student body, there has to be many faces of the school, meaning two different students can have a very different experiences of the same place. This also may lead to people being misunderstood about what the school is actually like until you visit or go there yourself.
For a Water-Cardinal sign, they are actually pretty outgoing, so don't let the stereotypes fool you. However, if you've ever been to an Ohio State football game, you'd know they can get pretty wild.
Rutgers University - Aries: Although it's the most recent school to join the Big Ten, it's technically the oldest and therefore similar to the first sign of the Zodiac, Aries. They are a high-spirited school, just like the energetic Aries, but also find a balance between being intellectual and creative. As a Fire sign, Aries likes to be the center of attention at times, but this fits Rutgers appropriately since they have a lot to be proud of. From sports and academics to a pretty campus and a great East Coast location, the Scarlet Knights deserve our respect just as much as Aries does.
University of Nebraska - Taurus: Slow and steady Taurus shares a lot of qualities Nebraska does. As a Midwest school located in the heart of Nebraska, they are probably one of the chillest schools, a lot like the attitudes of a Taurus. This definitely doesn't reflect to school pride, as that is something the Cornhuskers take very seriously. They're not overly popular for the football team among other Big Ten schools, considering Ohio State pretty much takes the cake for that label. However, they still do very well overall and it doesn't stop them from rooting the Cornhuskers on each season.
