If you're anything like me, "Spongebob Squarepants" was a huge part of your childhood. I used to spend countless hours being transported from my living room to Bikini Bottom. I liked to think I was part of Bikini Bottom; that I was friends with Bikini Bottom's main crew. Even now, time to time, I find myself watching the classic cartoon that was such a big part of my childhood. The characters and setting are the same, the stories are the same, and the jokes are the same, but now with my new, older perspective, I've had a realization about my favorite group of friends at the bottom of the sea: I am not go-lucky, easily excitable Spongebob Squarepants, whom I once found to be the most relatable character. I am Squidward Tentacles, the grumpy, easily annoyed neighbor next door.
Looking back I can see myself transitioning from a Spongebob to a Squidward. I guess that transition is natural: As you experience and learn about new things, things you were once protected from, your perspective changes and the person who was idyllic becomes more realistic. Although I've related to Squidward in the past, nothing has made me relate to my favorite squid more than college. Here are 23 times that I was college has made me Squidward Tentacles.
1. After a full day of classes, you get to the dining hall and eat literally everything you see, despite the fact that it is all subpar.

2. This is what the inside the mind of every college student looks like as they lie down to go to bed.

3. On a Friday night when your friends want to go out but you have too many things to do, so it ends up looking like this.

4. Sometimes, you feel guilty about taking a break from studying, but you realize that the essay you turned in two months ago still hasn't been returned and you suddenly don't feel as bad.

5. When there is a blizzard outside but your school still decides it should stay open, which leaves you no choice but this.

6. After not sleeping for two days, editing and re-editing countless times and turning in what you thought was the best paper you've ever written, you are awarded with only a B- and you think to yourself.

7. When your friend get a good grade on a paper and wants to celebrate, but you did bad on the same paper, so you're like.

8. Cleaning in college normally sucks, but cleaning out your room at the end of the semester is like.

9. After a really stressful week, you and your friends stand around, contemplating if this whole college thing is really for you.

10. Sometimes you actually might have time for yourself. When this happens, instead of enjoying it like you used too, you feel like you're missing something and you're like.

11. When your friend has a little too much fun and you didn't because it was your turn to be the "mom."

12. Privacy? What is privacy? Residence halls and community bathrooms mean never really having privacy, which basically means this is everyone walking to and from the showers.

13. Relaxing is only avoiding responsibilities you'll have to face later, and they'll hit you like.

14. It's always fun when your college offers free Zumba classes and you and your friends are basically champions.

15. When you're FaceTiming with a friend from home and your roommate comes in and says, "I'm gonna study in here so...?" and you just want to.

16. On the last day of your worst class with the most terrible professor, you're like.

17. At some point, you're part of a group project. Even if you get assigned to work with your friend on that project, nine times out of 10, you'll end up doing most of the work, which will cause you to question the quality of your friendship and then determine it's not what you thought it was, so you're like:

18. When you're about to go bed after a long day of hard classes and one of your friends knocks on your door and says they "need to talk." Of course you say yes, but inside you're feeling like:

19. Fire drills are bound to happen. Sometimes, they occur in the middle of the night for no reason and with no warning. When that happens, even though you run the risk of getting a disciplinary referral, you're still like:

20. Even though that 3 a.m. call can be annoying, you're always happy to help a friend who isn't having the best night and you stand there trying to help.

21. If you hate finals week, fear not. You're not alone. Here is an actual representation of what finals week does to everyone.

22. Everyone is trying their best but the semester is like.

23. But in the end, you know that it's all worth it because you're doing incredible and slaying the college thing, so you're like.
