Tuesday, November 17. Doyt L. Perry Stadium, Bowling Green, Ohio.
36th Annual Battle of the I-75.
Past, future and current Falcons and Rockets are born with this rivalry and it thrives in all of us. It is said to have dated back to 1919 when these two schools began to play each other.
The Peace Pipe Trophy was the first the award passed back and forth to each team who had one the game. This pipe was said to be smoked by the teams during halftime yet this tradition ended in 1969 when the pipe was stolen and never found.
1980 brought about a new trophy that resembled an American Indian as well as the Peace Pipe and both school's logos. This trophy was finished being passed around in 2010 because of conversations with members of the Native American community.
2011 started the current, "Battle of I-75", that is coming up in the next weeks.
Who will receive the trophy this year?
According to Wikipedia , since 1980 the University of Toledo has won 20 games with BGSU coming up short with only 15 victories.
Both teams have done very well this 2015 season with BGSU leading the MAC Conference East 5-0 while UT is 4-1 in the MAC.
Not being biased, but I think it's time for the Falcons to take the win at the Doyt. That's right. We see your 2,000 shares on your article why " UT is Better Than BGSU " , but you should check out our 3,300 shares on why "BGSU is Better Than UT".
Now, the winner of the game doesn't determine who the better school is. However, we all know Bowling Green State University will always be superior to the University of Toledo. It's just a fact, sorry!
See you November 17th. Game on, Rockets.
