I am angry. I am angry at the actions taken by the Trump administration -- from the Muslim ban to the horrendous deportation of some of our most hard working immigrants -- I am angry. This past week Trump had fired missiles at Syrian air fields in retaliation to the chemical weapons used on Syrian civilians, a strike which was not approved by Congress. It is not the strike that angered me, but how people are reacting to the strike.
The GOP had given Obama a difficult time when he did not take Congress’ permission to launch an attack on Syria for using chemical weapons. How hypocritical that they kept silent about Trump doing the exact same thing. It seems that the GOP cares about “unconstitutional” orders when it serves their purpose: to attack the Democratic Party and the left.
To add, Trump cited that seeing “dead, beautiful babies” spurred him into launching the attack. Might we remind Trump that bringing in Syrian refugees, instead of banning them, will save more “beautiful” babies than failed missile strikes? Let’s throw in the fact that more than a thousand innocent civilians -- some of which are “beautiful” babies and children -- are dying at his hand via reckless, inhumane attacks? Perhaps he can stop issuing dangerous orders, you know, to save more “beautiful babies.”
One can hope that the Russian collusion investigation comes out positive and that the administration is punished and Trump impeached. We must not lose sight of the investigation; it is one of the only ways to keep Trump from issuing more dangerous attacks on civilians.
