How You Know You're the "Mom" of Your Friends

Even though we are friends, I will treat you like my family.

How You Know You're the "Mom" of Your Friends

In our circle of friends, there are different types of members. Just like me, many people can relate to be the mom of their friend group. Even though your friends consist of a bunch of young adults, most of the time you feel like you're taking care of fresh faced children. Being the motherly figure usually means having to be the responsible and reliable one, although you don't mind too much because you love to watch your friends grow and help them along the way. Additionally, you enjoy being mature, going to bed early, and being knowledgeable. We also have everything you will ever need right inside our purse.

1. Staying In

Instead of going out partying during the week, we tend to prefer to stay in and relax. There's nothing more exciting than watching Netflix in comfort. Your friends basically drag you out to places and chances are you will want to be home early enough to get a full night's sleep.

2. Monitoring Your Friends

Being the mom means you have the need to check in on your friends and investigate anyone that tries to date them. In addition, whenever they go out or are in a new area you make sure they text you immediately once they get home. There's nothing more satisfying than making sure your friends are at peace and that nothing/nobody is causing any chaos.

3. Adult Stuff Excites You

Having the older mentality means you actually take pleasure when indulging in adult responsibilities. You are the one who coordinates all the activities that occur in your friend group and you figure out the best way to plan events. Also, you most likely have a Pinterest account with countless items from cooking, crafts, and all sorts of useful pieces of information.

4. Encourage Smart Choices and Advice

When having the mindset of a mother, you always seek out the best in your friends and know they all have potential beyond their own belief. So no matter what the situation, you will always be there to offer them guidance. Plus, you will walk them through the right decisions they should make in order to achieve their goals. Most of the time when your friends need advice, they will turn to you and your wide range of wisdom (which you probably learned from your mom, the only difference is you decided to listen instead of acting like the "learn for myself" teenager, but experience makes us strong).

5. Always on Schedule and Keeping Thing Tidy

If your friends plan to see a movie at 8, chances are you make sure everything arrives no later than quarter to eight and you bring along healthy snacks. From hangouts to important meetings, when you're the mom you make sure to always be on schedule and prepared to tackle the day. When things are disorganized you feel like a mess who can't properly function. You also are inclined to double check everything before leaving the house.

Overall, you enjoy having a fun time with your close friends but you make sure that everyone is content. Being the mom can be a tiring task but at the end of the day you wouldn't trade it for the world. Your friends know they can always depend on you despite how rocky life can become.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
