'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days': College Edition
Harper's Bazaar

The movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is, in my opinion, a classic movie. Two people, just looking to get ahead individually, try to use another person for their needs and then fall in love along the way. Just like the girl in the movie, we get rejected sometimes. We jump to conclusions and try to make ourselves feel better by saying it was all the other person. But what if the problem was actually things that you did that maybe you can help from doing or not doing? Dating in general is hard but it is arguable that dating in college is the hardest. Here is a list of funny ways to lose your man in 10 days: College Edition:

  • Forcing him to like everything you like.
  • Putting all of your business on social media.
  • Basically move into his dorm/house.
  • Talking about things you don’t know about.
  • Dabbing constantly.

1. Forcing him to like everything you like.

If you force your guy to do things with you that he really doesn’t like doing, he will resent you. For example, if you make him watch Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill because it is your fav show, he will run. He will feel like he is losing who he is and what he thinks is important. Sure, you see it as a romantic display that is the complete opposite of how your teenage love life was, but he sees it as unrealistic expectations that he would never meet. It might also make him feel bad that you are blushing over a character in a TV show instead of blushing over how cute your guy is.

2. Putting all of your business on social media.

Ah, social media. Ruining our relationships since day 1. Whether it is lurking gone wrong or subtweeting, social media will always have an impact on your relationship. The biggest thing to remember is that you can control your input in this category. Don’t go searching for something to be mad or upset about because chances are, you’ll find something. Wouldn’t you feel better letting your dude tell you about something that wasn’t actually that big of a deal instead of you finding it and overreacting?

3. Basically move into his dorm/house.

Nothing freaks me out more than when someone invades my space. Any guy would probably feel the same way. If he invites you over to hang out, don’t bring a bunch of personal things with you. Don’t leave your toothbrush at his place because you expect to stay over a couple more nights this week. Guys who are looking to take things slow and not rush into anything will get freaked out by your aggressiveness to become such a huge part of his life already. Nothing pushes a person away more than moving faster than they want to go.

4. Talking about things you don't know about.

If you don’t know about sports or cars or whatever your guy is interested in, sit back and listen to what he has to say about it. You don’t want to sound knowledgeable about something and then look like an idiot when you try to have a serious conversation about the topic. Guys will like it better if you show interest in something they are interested in and want to listen to them talk about it. Smarts and wit are appreciated only when they are genuine.

5. Dabbing constantly.

Dabbing. It has taken our generation by storm. Whether you’re vibing to your favorite song or dancing to a song in your head, there is a time, place, and limit to your dabs. I, myself, am guilty of getting carried away with dancing and doing my things every once and a while. This way to lose a guy in 10 days can apply to other things, too. Know your limit of things that you might think is funny, but is actually annoying after 1 or 2 times.

This list is a fun and playful example of things that people do everyday in their relationships that might seem normal, but subconsciously actually do scare people away. It is always important to remember that in a relationship of any kind, there are two people. Two sets of feelings. Two sets of opinions. Hopefully you can learn from your little quirks and laugh at yourself a little bit!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
