The election is still a month away, but there are many important voting deadlines coming up really fast if you want to cast a vote in this election. Yes, your memes indicate that you dislike both major presidential nominees, but this election (like all elections) is also about voting representatives and senators to Congress and the state legislature. Voting can be a little complicated if you go to a college outside of your home county, so here is what you can do:
Register! The deadline is October 11th! Everyone has to do it!
No matter who you are, you cannot vote unless you have registered. Kentucky has made it much easier to register to vote with online registration. The link is below and must be completed before October 11th. If you are out of state, you can register as well, but you forfeit the right to vote in your home state and gain the right to vote in Kentucky. If you live in state, you can change your address to match where you go to college to make life much easier. If you do not want to change your address, keep reading until you find the situation that fits you.

If your address is in the county where you go to college…
You are good to vote! Public universities do not have school on election day, so you can drive to your precinct and cast your vote between the times of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. View the link below to find your precinct.
If your address is in a Kentucky county outside of where you go to college…
You have two primary ways of voting: early voting and absentee. Kentucky only allows you this option if you have an “excuse.” Going to college out of your home county counts as an excuse, so you have this option if you do not want to change your address. To vote early or obtain an absentee ballot, you must contact your county clerk office. Their contact information is in the link below. They can either mail you the absentee ballot form, or your relative can pick it up. The period for early voting is from October 21st to November 7th. The deadline for mailing in the absentee ballot form is November 1st.

If your address is outside the state of Kentucky…
You have to use an absentee form. The only other option is to register to vote in Kentucky, which requires you to change your address. To review the procedures for voting absentee for your particular state, click on your home state in the following link.
