10 Reasons I Need To Publicly Thank my favorite person
Raven Bowman

I know I can never thank you enough for all that you do for me, but I can at least try.

1. Encouraging me

Thank you for always encouraging me to do better. When I feel defeated, you always push me to do more. When I think I can not do something, you tell me I can. When I am confused and I do not know how I will be able to complete a project, you help me figure it out.

2. Understanding me

Thank you for always understanding me. Whenever I need something you always know. Whether that be ketchup for my fries or a hand squeeze when I am struggling with something. (You must be a psychic) You get me and I do not always have to explain myself a hundred different ways.

3. For being kind

Thank you for always being so kind to me, my family and friends. When I first met you, I was in disbelief because of how kind you were. I did not think a person could be so constantly kind, especially with how the world is today. Thank you for opening the door for me and always being a gentleman.

4. For being honest

Thank you for being honest to me, I can always count on you when I need an opinion on my newest outfit. I can also count on you to out me in check when I am wrong.

5. Being my person

Thank you for being my person. Laughing at my bad jokes and telling me another bad joke in return. You always know how to put a smile on my face, even when I do not feel like smiling. You give me the best advice, although I might not always take it. You listen to me and love me like no one else and are always there to lend a helping hand.

6. For protecting me

Thank you for being my knight in shining armor and slaying all the scary things. Thank you for keeping the spiders outside of my shoes and wherever we go. Although I know you do not kill then, you at least take them outside to live.

7. Being there for me

Thank you for always being there for me when things get tough. You are always the first person to ask me how my day was. When I am down, you always ask if there is anything you can do for me.

8.For being a constant in my life

Thank you for always be constant in my life. We have been through so much together and we will continue to go through a lot together. This is only the beginning, sweetheart.

9. For loving me

Thank you for always loving me, even when I irritate you just for the fun of it.

10. For everything

I know this short list does not even begin to thank you for everything. So just to cover it all, thank you for everything you do for me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
