"April showers bring May flowers!" Now, at this point in the semester you may be thinking that 'showers' refer to your tears and that the 'flowers' are symbolic of the happy summer days that loom right over the horizon of finals... as you type your fifth paper of the week and are currently reading this article while you peruse your FaceBook page in hopes that in your absence your paper will suddenly reach it's designated word count.
Now, take a step back and breathe. The key to getting through the end-of-the-semester crunch is focus, prioritization and scheduling. Remember that day planner you bought hopefully during syllabus week? Pull it back out and write down all your assignments, exams, professor meetings, events and volunteer events you have scheduled. Also, pencil in times to work on these assignments ahead of time and stick to them; thirty minutes here and there makes a big difference!
Registration and looking forward to the fall semester also conveniently falls in this stressful time, (unless you are a senior, then this may be even more terrifying). Scrambling to meet with your adviser, obtain your pin and try to get into all the classes you need in order to graduate on time is a process within itself. So instead of trying to remember the classes you need to take, make a plan and be prepared with backups so that you're not spending hours on your registration screen attempting to get some semblance of a decent schedule to appear.
Remember to sleep! Trying to pull all nighters the night before every important day/assignment is not possible in the month of April... you would never sleep if so! Put that computer down and go to sleep!
