Well we are at the point in the semester where everything seems to be falling apart. Halloween weekend, or in Salem it is a month, has come and gone. Thanksgiving is approaching rather quickly. And before you know it, BAM! Its finals week. It is going to be a stressful next couple of weeks. Between maintaining your social life and managing and finishing all your school work, there is a lot that can be stressful. However, even though it may feel like last minute, here are some helpful tips and reminders to help you get through the last few weeks of the fall semester.
1.Create a plan of Attack...
... And actually stick to it. The final assignments, quizzes, exams, papers can not be 'winged.' To be successful in your course, you must come up with a plan of attack. Whether you work better with schedule work times on a calendar or creating outlines of the work. Create some steps in order to help break down the massive work load.
2.Give Yourself Tiny Rewards
If you create a step by step processes for your plan of attack, have little tiny rewards for yourself at the end of each step. It can be whatever you see fit. Having a reward at the end of each step can give you some initiative to get it done. It also feels good to know you are chipping away at a big assignment.
3. Speak to your professor.
You see them twice a week. But they are there for a reason! If you are confused or anything is unclear ASK! Because trust me they will probably tell you more than you want to know to the point where you are like this....
4. Happy Thoughts.
If the stress or thought of work becomes too much, take a mental break for like 15 minutes. Think about all the delicious food you are going to eat over Thanksgiving break. Think about how literally in a couple weeks we will have a month off from school. Think about not having to wake up for those 8 ams that you've been regretting since September. Mental breaks are so important and also beneficial. If you are trying really hard to cram, you may get to a point where you brain will just stop retaining the information. Think of your brain like a stomach. Once you eat a meal, you have to digest. Study segments of information and then give the brain time to processes it.
